What kind of resto was it? I am guessing minor color touch or maybe a small piece added..I would imagine that the after all the resub run out that finding books with minor resto and having the resto removed will be the next flip trick for cgc books...if you can find a book with slight CT and have it removed and get a bluw label that is lsightly lower than the PLOD you can make some serious coin...ckb wrote:Well, I would not hesitate at all to send books to Matt Nelson at Classics. I have not sent him books for CGC prep work, but he did do some restoration removal for me. He turned a 7.5 purple into a 7.0 blue. I was dancing in the street...

Candidates can be hard to find. Color touch has to be professionally done, with acrylics, or the removal will just leave holes.
My book had slight professional color touch. I had it looked at by two independent dealers (before buying it) in 1995, both of whom missed the restoration. Experts! Bah! When I sent it in in 2000 and got the purple label, I was really mad.

Yeah but finding candidates would only require reading the label right? I just think that it might be the next flip trick for cgc books. The price difference on a 7.5 PLOD and 7.0 blue can be quite a bit depending on the book. People will always find a way to make money when they sense an unblanace in the market...ckb wrote:Candidates can be hard to find.
