Bob Layton's X-O Picture Colored by me!

Post by cptfishstick »

Hey guys, when I saw that atachment from Tadeo's post, I went nuts. That X-O picture was so amazingly great, and All I could think was MAN! That needs some coloring!

Now i'm not a professional, infact this is one of the first 2d images ive ever colored in Photoshop. But I hope you guys like it. I doubt Bob will ever see it, but I hope he would like it too. Took me Like half a day to do this.

yeah, but wouldnt' the shading be the opposite. his leg closest to the flame is darkest but that's where the light should be bouncing off.

nitpicking aside, that's an excellent job. :thumb:

all,
I REALLY appreciate all the great comments. It makes me feel great about this peice! If anyone else wants to post C&C please do!

david_albuq,
Yeah I live in ABQ NM, I go to UNM. How about you? However, Hablo español pequeño

screamingdc,
I too was contemplating the shading quite a bit while coloring this. I tried to use Laytons work as a guide, and its a bit confusing for me because I've never really colored metal before. Some areas of his boddy like his torso have shadows leaning towards shadows. His left thigh has a large black splotch. I'm not sure if this splotch is intended as a shine or a shadow. Some areas like his right arm and left shin have shadows away from the fire. So it was a fight between remaining faithfull to his inks and trying to make it realistic. I admit the problem is just my lack of experience.

Nope, I didn't do UNM...much too large and the parking is a freakin' nightmare. I went to NM Highlands at the Rio Rancho campus. Got both an undergraduates and a graduates in Business from them.

I work the DA's parking lot at Fifth and Lomas during the afternoons. You should stop by before class and say hola. No hablo espanol for me, though I do know how to say, "half hour", "one hour" and "we are full" in Spanish. Those phrases I learned mighty quick. :P

I wonder how many people here have experience with drawing comics (either professional or just for fun?). It would be cool to put together some sort of "fan gallery" of stuff that people here have done - whether it is something like this that is coloring a known work, or a sketch, or whatever.
