Japanese Megatron without the orange cap?
I remember seeing something about this being a hard to find item and I saw one in a local store. Anyone wants the contact info for the guy PM me and I'll send it along.

Yeah the Masterpieces were going up in retail value for a time being. I thought I could make a bit of investment by buying three. Unfortunately, I didn't think Takara would go back and redo another production run of Megatrons which brought the price down back to how much I originally got them for. So at this point, it's either I hold them a bit longer or just sell them off and break even.superman-prime wrote:3 wow

Let me ask you this: you buy a CGC 9.9 of Unity #0 Red and for some reason someone takes it out of the case and bends a the corner of the cover. How would you feel?
For me to buy to any version of Megatron that transforms into a gun it has to be capped and not just the Masterpiece and Takara's many reissues of the orginal one, Hell even the Transformers Classics version that Hasbro released about 2 years ago and looks like a freaking Nerf Gun (and I read somewhere that Hasbro can't even bring that one back because of crazy safety laws).
Once I buy the toy, comic, DVD, CD, video game, or whatever then I'll decide if I want to play, read, listen, or watch it or resell it, repaint it, mod it, throw it in the trash, set it on fire, or whatever. As long as I don't anything illegal then I should do whatever I want with my stuff and no one should mess the stuff that I buy other than me. Not you. Not Hobbo. Not the government.
Now don't get me wrong I understand the needs of the safety laws and think in some cases that the caps are justifed (especially the orginal Megatron toy from 84). But what *SQUEE* me off is that in cases of the Masterpiece and the Classics versions it's just stupid to mod them because I doubt anybody who buys them is going to use them to knock over a 7/11 and that collectors like me who obey the laws get screwed by a few morons and over protective politians.
end of rant.

I definitely agree with you that the American laws regarding any toy and replicas to guns is stupid. The masterpiece megatron's gun mode is larger then any real gun out there and people can easily tell it's a fake. However, since we live in the country, we have no choice but abide to them. In any case, like my previous response, the cap on Megatron is just a rubber piece that can be pulled out. It's not anything permanent so it's no big deal.Cyberstrike wrote:PM sent.X-O HoboJoe wrote:I remember seeing something about this being a hard to find item and I saw one in a local store. Oh yes I definitely agree! Any Gen 1 Transformers fan that haven't looked into the Masterpiece line is missing out big time. This is the first time they have released anything that looks or resembles the 80's cartoon. I'm sorry to say the original 1980's Megatron looks whacked even though we have fond memories of playing with it as a kid. The masterpiece is the real deal. My only gripe about it is due to the complexity of the transformation, the toy is very fragile. It took me an hour just to transform it for the first time. Other then that, the display factor rivals all else. Also if anyone else haven't gotten it yet, I truly recommend getting the latest masterpiece release of Grimlock. IMO, its one of the best design next to Optimus Prime. Maybe I should start posting some pics soon.maraxusofkeld wrote:If you didnt buy it already I would really suggest it. It does look phenominal, but the degradation of quality from Optimus Prime is so much it's hard to believe this was an official Takara release.

Depends on where you buy them more respectful stores like BBTS where from what I read from people at several Transformers message boards say the cap is hot glued to the toy and is very hard to remove without tearing the toy up. In my case that is where I have to buy a lot of my Transformers this year.Escaflown4 wrote:I definitely agree with you that the American laws regarding any toy and replicas to guns is stupid.
