Greg says first in EW4, and first full in Rai 0.
Card FA9 is about Rai 0.
Interviews mainly say Bloodshot was introduced in Rai 0. I think there is one interview that specifically mentions the relationship between EW 4 and Rai 0 (mentioning which one hit the stands first), but I can't find it now.

My opinion
Rai #0 was the first appearance. EW 4 is first appearance in costume.

Re: My opinion
Bloodshot appears in costume in Rai 0 too (I just checked to verify).
Also, I think that Rai 0 came out a couple weeks after Eternal Warrior 4.
I am hanging with some fellow Valiant fans, and this question came up. We are eager to figure this out!
It seems to me that Bloodshot is kinda like Wolverine. His first appearance is a cameo last panel in Hulk 180. First full appearance is in Hulk 181.
So, did Rai 0 come out before or after Eternal Warrior 4?

That's the point. Does the fact that it's a cameo negate the fact that it was the first book released to feature Bloodshot?dellamorte wrote:I seem to remember Eternal Warrior 4 coming out first. But it is only a cameo.
If EW #4 was released earlier in the month than Rai #0, then EW #4 is Bloodshot's first appearance. IMHO

For me, it depends on which book actually hit the stands first. Rai #0 or EW #4.
and for the record, we discussed this for sometime. It was a critical part of the Valiant jeopardy game. We were at an impasse with how to handle the points.... and we did anyone in our situation would have done.
We let Rufus decide what to do.

A cameo is an appearance, therefore a first app in a cameo is a first app.Blood of Heroes wrote:That's the point. Another example being the classic argument over the first app of Wolverine. Bollocks to what people say, he appears - and introduces himself - in Hulk #180 so Hulk 180 is the 1st app of Wolverine.

So can anyone confirm that Eternal Warrior 4 did indeed come out before Rai 0? They both have the same month listed on the cover.
If I recall, Rai 0 came out at least 2 weeks after EW 4. Here's the reasoning:
Eternal Warrior came out the first week of the month, Rai came out the third week. This was the schedule during Unity, and I believe it continued afterward.
This means that in release order, we had:
June: EW 1, then Rai 6
July: EW2, then Rai 7
August: EW3, then Rai 8
September: EW4, then Rai 0.
(Unity started in June, right? Not May?)
I don't remember if Rai 0 replaced the release slot that Rai 9 would have taken if it were continued as usual at that point.

so if we're going to guess which comes first in order,
we should use the Unity crossover as our guide.
The chapters of Unity were:
Chapter 1: Unity #0
Chapter 2: Eternal Warrior #1
Chapter 3: Archer & Armstrong #1
Chapter 4: Magnus #15
Chapter 5: X-O Manowar #7
Chapter 6: Shadowman #4
Chapter 7: Rai #6
Chapter 8: Harbinger #8
Chapter 9: Solar #12
Chapter 10: Eternal Warrior #2
Chapter 11: Archer & Armstrong #2
Chapter 12: Magnus #16
Chapter 13: X-O Manowar #8
Chapter 14: Shadowman #5
Chapter 15: Rai #7
Chapter 16: Harbinger #9
Chapter 17: Solar #13
Chapter 18: Unity #1
...so if the "order" is still true a few months later, Eternal Warrior comes before Rai.

[[Edit: I see that Dr. Solar already made this argument... so I'm too late.]]

I just don't know if Rai 0 filled the slot that Rai 9 would have if the series had continued.
It was a sort of special issue, not part of the regular run, so it might not have been placed into the previously scheduled publishing line up.
I think it was but I am trying to confirm this.

Re:
Big Bang's characters are too main stream to ever discuss Valiant. The are "nerds" who believe there is Star Trek, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and then, maybe, Marvel, DC and perhaps either D&D or Warcraft. It's a Hollywood version of what geekdom is about. Chuck and Reaper were much better at showing the diversity of things-and they all arrived around the same time.geocarr wrote:The writers of the TV show "The Big Bang Theory" should have the characters discuss this. Re: No blasphemy intended...
Without hesitation, I am 100% sure that Bloodshot first appeared on EW4.
This is based on my knowledge of the Valiant history from buying these books that came out.
I never considered Rai 0 to be his first appearance, I am very surprised most members think its RAI 0.
EW4 came out first before Rai 0.
If I am wrong, I would be surprised.
First appearance Eternal Warrior #4 (November 1992) 1st cameo; Rai 0 (November 1992) 1st full appearance.
