ok, slym's right, it doesn't say anything about not signing Valiant. I guess I just inferred that meaning because I believe there was a thread on the board at the time that also speculated that Jim might not be willing to sign Valiant items.

The auction doesn't say "Jim Shooter won't sign Valiant books anymore." It never did. The auction implies that, because VEI was suing Shooter (and trying to track him down to serve him) he would be going underground for a while...which he did...thus making his sig harder to get. Now that the suit is dropped, he'll be making appearances.

That's the gist of it, as far as I can tell...

How long was Shooter going to be "going underground" considering Dark Horse was going full steam ahead with their Gold Key publishing plans? I don't think Shooter's autograph is ever going to prove to be difficult to find. Look, I have no problem with someone using hype to promote interest in their auctions, but that's clearly what it was.

EDIT: because I was wrong about what I thought the first auction of this book said. :oops:
