I was going to put that I would continue the VH1 universe but I think that we decided that VH1 sucks towards the end...I remember a discussion involving nutopters and boobalizers....and something about an xo bike...

If properly handled, Id really like to see a cohesive universe using some old and some new Valiant characters. The continuity that the early books shared would also be a feature of this universe.

To do it right, and probably the only way, is to get Shooter and give him a chance to complete his vision for what the universe would have been. I guess you could say he was the "Stan Lee" of Valiant, except his books were story driven vs. art driven as Marvel was in the 60's. I guess if Stan got fired in 1963-you could use that as some sort of comparison.

I'd continue the original universe from the X-O Manowar #65 cliffhanger; Aric vs the X-O Manowar.

I'd start it present day, with Carmen and Hwen's son, who'd be about 8 years old today.

I would recap Unity, & then throw in a mutiuniverse twist in there when Solar sent evrybody back to their prospective place & times, & then start from there building the universe from the ground up.

I would keep the universe to the following titles:

Solar
X-O
Harbinger
Rai
Magnus
Shadowman
Bloodshot
Eternal Warrior

The stories would be good & the art pre-1993.

Sweet!

IMO - - - -

I would add a Armorines and H.A.R.D. Corps or a combo as supporting characters to X-O and Harbingers as yet another group to deal with. I thought the idea of H.A.R.D. Corps going after Harbingers would have been more interesting if they had to "capture" the Harbinger and put them in a coma to tie to their "cyborg" impant tranmitter or such. Armorines would be the military's answer to the Harbinger/Alien 'threat'.

PSI Lords could be re-curring characters in Rai or Magnus. I loved the direction to make them be this "guardian" of Earth, but wanted them to be more of a threat that the Spider aliens use to be.

Dr. Mirage could be a support for Shadowman, maybe make him trying to cure Shadowman or something.

Archer & Armstrong would pop up here and there.

Geomancer, would have to be changed a little, yet I liked the tension developed with the Eternal Warrior.

i would change some things from the original universe, take the stories either, in some cases(like turok) from where they left off, or go from a few issues prior(like bloodshot 45, or harbinger 40) and keep going.

i would use

XO
Harbinger
Bloodshot
Eternal Warrior
A&A(find some way cool way to bring them and BWS back)
Solar
Magnus
Timewalker
Turok
Visitor
Dr. Mirage
maybe some miniseries and way cooler oneshots.

All you have to do to resurrect Valiant is this:

PUBLISH THE DARN BOOKS AGAIN.

Even if it stinks, you can hire and fire whomever you want at will.....but PUBLISH them...get them OUT there for the people to like, or hate, or just TALK ABOUT....

i would definately limit it two 8 titles. that way most of us could buy all eight titles every month...i like the titles selected by...uh whoever that was

you could have archer and armstrong show up in eternal warrior occasionally.

i would make dr mirage turn evil...that necroplasma stuff has got to some serious side effects...

you could even go back to the end of unity and have erica escape or interefere somehow so solar has to redo it, and everyone comes out of unity all over...ah...all better.

for something REALLY off the wall, i might have solar split. you know, like in two? wouldn't that be a fresh idea? then i'd have him borrow the x-o bicycle...oops, i started out SO serious!

h, was the device the one they got when harada was in a coma. the 'bad omen' arc. and then harada sent livewire to get it back. geez, to bad about eddie and her. especially eddie. thought it was awesome when harada helped that dude commit suicide. seppuku.

Knightt_333 wrote:Again, being a military guy I appreciated the military slant. The thought of changing powers was great but the 'verbal' initiation of that change was a bit lame to me. We are talking reaction time here folks. Anyone, being in combat knows you do not have time to 'coordinate' your powers. Things happen too quickly and hell, even your own words get jumbled.

But still, I enjoyed it pretty well except for those final issues. I just did not know where in the hell the book was going. You can tell (as with all soon to be dead Valiant titles) that the book was soon to be canned.
I agree...with every thing you've said...'specially the last sentence...you can tell it in all the books. So far I've gotten through complete runs of A and A, EW, HC, Harb and Magnus...bout half way through bloodshot...that seems to be holding up the best of the titles that I have gotten through...

I would pull the best elements from VH1 and VH2 and mesh them - so, I would like to finish Unity 2000, then build a VH3 with the following books, characters(with the universe of origin listed), and creative teams:

Editor In Chief: Bob Layton
Creative Director: Jim Shooter

1. Harbinger
Characters: Sting, Harada, Torque, Zephyr, Kris, et al (VH1).
Creative: Jim Shooter, writer, Michael Turner, artist.

This would pick up where we left off, after re-introducing the story behind the main characters.

2. Shadowman
Characters: Jack Boniface(VH1), Master Darque (VH2)
Creative: Bob Layton, writer, Leonardo Manco, artist

This would be the Jack Boniface we know and love versus the VH2 version of Darque. Instead of 1999, the prophecy would be changed that Boniface would defeat Darque in 2010. Manco's incredible style would fit perfectly with Layton's dark pschology of the character.

3. X-O Manowar
Characters: Aric of Dacia (VH1), Spider Aliens (VH1), Ken (VH1)
Creative: Steve Englehart, writer, Jim Cheung, artist

The classic returns - no reason to mess with what worked the first time.

4. Morningstar
Characters: Lucifer Morningstar(U2K), Solar(VH1), Gilad(VH1), Geoff(VH1)
Creative: Jim Shooter, writer, Peter Grau, artist

This book would be more psychological, as it focused on the villain and his machinations, along with the various heroes (Solar, Eternal Warior, the Geomancer) that do their best to thwart him. This would also touch on the religious overtones of a character like Solar that were presented (but not fully realized, IMHO) in the VH2 Solar.

5. H.A.R.D. Corps
Characters: All VH1 H.A.R.D. Corps characters
Creative: David Michelinie, writer, Mike Leeke, artist

This version of the Corps would be goverment funded, and be a military response to the Harada corporation and the growing "threat" of the Valiant heroes and the Harbinger characters.

6. Magnus, Robot Fighter
Characters: Magnus(VH1), A-1(VH1), Malevolents(VH1), Rai(VH1), etc.
Creative: John Ostrander, writer, James Brock, artist

How could we not have the cornerstone of the Valiant universe? Taking a bit of the better aspects of Terminator, this would be the rise and fall of the machines in 4000AD North Am.

7. Turok, Dinosaur Hunter
Characters: Turoks(VH1-2), Bionoids (VH1-2)
Creative: Fabian Nicieza, writer, Rafael Kayanan, artist

I think I may be one fo the few who really liked to Turok re-write - and I'd incorporate it here back into the VH1 dominated universe, having various Turok's appear (via the Lost Land) all over history.

8. Quantum & Woody
Characters: Quantum(VH2), Woody(VH2), H.A.E.D.U.S.(VH2), Bloodshot(VH1)
Creative: Bright & Priest

It's the goat. I love the goat. My Valiant universe would be incomplete without the goat.

Of course, this is just my fantasy world, so take it or leave it as you will.

Later,
Ric

I don't see how since Jack died ridding the world of the Darque Power, which was as much his source of power as it was Master Darque's :)

Remember, the purpose of Rai 0 was to bring the present day VALIANT Universe in line with the Gold Key Magnus universe.

That means no magic.

Way I see it, magic would have completely vanished from the VALIANT Universe in 99.

Rai 0 showed different events centered around the original eight VALIANT heroes:

Shadowman:

Dies in 99, no more magic.

Eternal Warrior/Archer & Armstrong:

Archer dies in 2020, Aram and Gilad part ways

Solar:

Gayle dies and he splits. One split becomes the Explorer and the second goes into exile.

X-O Manowar:

Dies fighting Harada. Harada takes over Aric's wife's body.

Harbinger:

The whole Harbinger Wars.

And at least two others:

Bloodshot:

The Blood of Heroes, which leads to Rai

H.A.R.D. Corps:

Which become the Psi-Lords/Starwatchers
