Yeah, that's a really neat new feature they are offering
Anyone have pics of this?

The binding starts at $15 and the custom covers are no extra charge, so maybe they will give you 50% off of zero. :D

Anyone commissioning original artwork for their binds? I am looking over the artist alley list for a comic con next month and am thinking of ideas for the first page of future binds.

Anyone adding other cool original stuff to their binds? I've seen some neat tables of contents. I did a cover gallery in the back of my Grendel bind of all the left over covers (I only used the first of each series in order to mark the start of a new story).

Also since I split the grendel stories into present day and then all the futurist stories I started the second bind with the "Grendel Primary" which is an creepy 5 page childrens ABC song out of The Grendel Cycle book to set the mood and used the illustrated timeline form Cycle right before the cover gallery.

Although I know a group of people who got a discount on the oversized binds of Wednesday comics which I'm pretty sure was LBC. But they also do a podcast so there may have been a discount for advertisement agreement.

Man would I love to bind my Wednesday comics but I hear it runs $80-$100 because of the size.

Yes, I know I am totally spamming the board today, I will do anything to not clean my apartment...

I read a post that said Valiant artist post here. Do anyone know who they are (or are you one) and if they commission artwork or sell original art, inexpensively? :D
I was thinking about adding original art to my binds.

Actually the discount was $80 for binding Wednesday Comics and the binder was Capitol Binding in Omaha NE. And believe me, that binding was worth every penny of the $80.

You can always contact Bob Hall for a commission.

Don Perlin used to take commisssions also, I believe he still does.

That's a great price for binding those. Mine has a front die stamp and handset type on the spine, so I think my price included a proportional amount of the die cost.

As a side note, are you going to add the Wednesday Comics Preview sheet that was published a little while before the series started? It was a single sheet that previewed the Batman story and the back side had a full page ad for the Superman series.

No I'm not going to put that 1 page. You cant get a better first page than that first batman page. But I am wondering about what to put on the spine. It seems to thin to put the one inch DC die stamp and if I put
"WEDNESDAY COMICS DC COMICS"
down the spine the word comics twice seems weird to me. :hm:

Mine just has WEDNESDAY COMICS down the spine -- no DC COMICS, no logo. It does have head and tail lines at the very top and bottom, but nothing else. Of course, being about 1/2" thick does limit what can go on the spine.

It's a clean design and looks nice without being overly cluttered. And I wasn't bothered by the lack of publisher info as I know that Wednesday Comics is a DC effort.

One thought might be just DC on the spine, instead of DC Comics

Wow! After seeing these I went to the LBC site to check them out and saw the full front/back custom cover picture option on there as well.
Image
Anybody know if these are still hardback type material? I'm assuming it is, but wanting to make sure this isn't a softcover kinda thing.

They are hard covers. They are the same material they would use for regular books, except these have images on them.

Cool. That is what I wanted to hear. Now the weighty issue that arises is whether or not to cover up possible beautiful cover art built into the book with a dust jacket?!?!

Is there a purpose in dust jackets besides prettying up a dull bound book? Is it actually for keeping the dust off? Time to check wiki/google...

The spine is silver too its just the flash that makes it look white.
That is an attractive package.

Sucks about the pages, though.

Thanks. I am going to send it back to be repaired. I was sending in some other binds already including all the Grendel Tales so it will cut down on the individual shipping.

Another Question, what do you with Acetate covers like say Marvels. Do you remove those prior to sending it for binding ?

I started a non-Valiant thread over in the Marvel DC forum. I posted pictures of my latest Conan the Barbarian binds, Batman 1974, Bongoverse (Simpsons and Futurama) and Poe.
