My dad worked at a local magazine disturber and I was interested in The Transformers and one day he asked me about a Transformer character called Shockwave and I told him that are the cartoon show he was the Decepticon Guardian of Cybertron who was loyal to Megatron and then he told me that Shockwave was on Earth and that he the leader of the Decepticons and he had beaten Megatron and captured all the Autobots except for Ratchet, I asked what he was talking about and he handed me a copy of the Marvel US The Transformers #6 and I was hooked.
Until 89 if it did have the Transformers I wasn't interested in it, until Marvel US canceled The Transformers and then I saw Tim Burton's first Batman movie, then my dad loaned me some money and we went to a local drug store and bought a whole bunch of comics off the rack. Then we went to the old Comic Carnival south side store (the Comic Carnival is still in business but they moved the south side store to a new location and closed the old one down a few years after they moved), that was the first LCS I ever went to, and there I bought The Ghost Rider vol. 2 #1.
Then Pen Comics, a different LCS opened (it went out of business) only 2.5 blocks from my house and the rest as they say, is history.
