I have about 40 LB and I would really like to begin trimming that down a bit. The vast majority is from about 1980-mid 1990 when I was really into comics. Recently I have seriously considering not buying moderns that are coming out now...some of the stuff I now pick up I do not even read. Ultimately I would like to trim and slab what I have.

I only have few runs I want to complete:

Frank Miller Daredevil (should have this finished at my next con this November)

Would love to finish a run of ASM from 200-300. I've got the difficult issues out of the way, just trying to find filler copies for the rest.

Dark Shadows photo cover set (only have issue 1 right now)

Stephen Platt Moon Knight run (not in a big hurry)

Weird War Tales 1, 6, and 10.

Also want pre unity X-O's and Rai's.

Also would like an armor wars run from Iron Man.

Nah. Wish I did, but at this point, I probably won't since it costs so much now.
Yeah AF#15 have shot up again during the past few months that I pretty much gave up on trying to upgrade my copy. :!:

My comic collecting is in maintenance mode ... I pretty much have what I want and I'm just continuing a few Marvel runs as they go. I keep an eye out for cheap stuff and every now and then that sends me down a new path.

I'm trying to finish my bronze age X-men from #95 to 143 in CGC 9.4 to 9.6. I already have the 94 plus some other keys, so just trying to take my time.

Definitely a nice run to collect at that grade. Are you planning to go for #1 - 93 when you're done with that set?

I am not sure, but I highly doubt that I'd be able to get a #1 in a 9.0. I am going to try afterwards to get the nat least get the Neal Adams run, I have a strong 9.4 #60 raw. Will not get the reprint issues from 67-93, and then I will just take it from there.

You don't necessarily have to get CGC 9.0 and up for all of them. What I did for my run was get an average of CGC 7.0 for the Silver Age issues #1-66. However my #1 is only a 4.0  As long as the book presented nicely, I was happy with it. My reprint issues #67 - 93 averages out around 8.5 and the good ol Bronze Age run #94 - 143 averages out to 9.0. All the issues afterward to the newest book on the stand averages out for a 9.2 / 9.4. Out of the entire run, the hardest to find in high grades is believe it or not...the reprint issues.

Nothing much for me.

Harbinger 12 - 25
The early West Coast Avengers issues up to 41.
Some odd Grell Green Arrow books.
Some X-Factor issues from 40 up to 60.

Mainly get collected editions these days.

Haha we have pretty much the exact same collecting goals, expect you are way closer to your ASM run than I am. I am going to try and get every variant of every issue as well, so it's gonna take some time.

On top of those, I've put together runs of every other major Spider-Man title and as many mini series as I can get my hands on.

Just call me Spider-Junkie :D

Oh, and I'm trying to finish off a complete run of some company called Valiant... 8-)

Nice! How many books are you missing from your ASM run? Are you also collecting the current issues or are you stopping at a certain range?

Dude, you've got to get the current stuff. It's a fantastic read compared to some of the stuff a while ago. Why not get the good stories too?

Good to know there are still alot of people who are big time after Spidey books.

My approach to variants has been to buy the covers I really like if they are cheap. I'd really like to start knocking out all the variants, but that's pretty ambitious on ASM. Is there somewhere that has a really good, clear listing with pics of all the variants?

Mine was to finish my (Uncanny) X-Men run and fill in the gaps I have from 1-93, but with the rampant pressing going on, and I don't want ragged copies, my only goal is to get another GSXM#1 to replace my missing copy and be done with it all.

:|

-slym (will someday resume his goal to get at least 1% of the Rai #3 print-run, but doesn't know when that will be)

Well originally I was only planning to stop at 600, but decided to get them all after a recent trip to a comic show where a few dealers practically had the entire run from 601 to the current issue for 50 cents to a dollar each. It was kinda hard to say no to that. :D

If you want a full list of all the ASM variants, I know someone on the CGC boards who should have a list. You probably know that there are just literally tons of them so it will feel like collecting a whole another run.

I always use mycomicshop.com to see the variants for issues. I've been trying to get all of the variants for astonishing x-men and x-force. I think I'm only missing a couple of the sketch covers now

I was also thinking of picking up more bronze age keys in CGC 9.4 like ASM #129
Marvel Spotlight #5
Hero for Hire #1
Werewolf by Night #32
