I also suggest Defiant, Broadway and Comics Greatest World/Dark Horse Heroes. For Defiant, I think the best book was Dark Dominion and for Broadway, I liked Fatale. CGW/DHH had X and Ghost.HaloReach2010 wrote:Dammit...Ive caught this disease as well. Im in.

There will never be a shortage of 25c bins full of DU gems.
My master DU list is now close to 100 publishers im attempting to complete from 25p bins.
harder to do in the UK, but immense fun for sure.
I must be over 50 short boxes now.

I like the idea of collecting "Dead Universes," though other than Valiant, I've only made a concerted effort at tracking down the Ultraverse.
I read all the CrossGen and Defiant as they were being published; I'm debating picking the Defiants back up, and maybe going for the Broadway as well. I tend to pick up Atlas when I find them cheap.
I also like a lot of the First and Pacific Comics, though not sure they'd count as far as Dead Universes.

We have had some debate on what is and what is not a dead universe. The term "defunct publisher" has been thrown about and is probably more correct for several of the companies with which I concern myself, which include both Pacific and First.sbcomics wrote:I like the idea of collecting "Dead Universes," though other than Valiant, I've only made a concerted effort at tracking down the Ultraverse.

Pacific put out some good stuff. First was publishing the best stories of its day. Nexus, the Badger and Dreadstar really stand out to me from among their stable and all three hold up well still. My wife is particularly a fan of the Badger but she enjoys Nexus too. Many of these properties have been reprinted in trade collections but sadly I have yet to find one that preserves the quality of the artwork.
