Florida Conventions
Any Floridians out there know of any small conventions that you can find back issues on the cheap...? Quarter-bins, Dollar-bins...looking for dead universe books, mostly.
I'm in Jacksonville, but am ready for a road trip....Ive exhausted the LCS scene here...! Maybe Georgia as well since im 30 mins away...
Any insight is welcome.

Megacon is probably going to have your best and biggest selection of $1 issues. As depluto said, with the ticket and everything else, it's a bit pricey. I'm planning to go this year to try and get some sketches. The artists they have are pretty impressive.depluto wrote:Nothing decent anywhere near Jax. The only con I go to is MegaCon but that's not cheap when you factor in gas and parking. Tampa has a few decent shows, but that's a pretty good haul.
The Tampa cons, there are a few dealers with $1 boxes but it's mainly 80s and 90s crap.
If you are particularly looking for Valiant or Acclaim stuff, I can't say that I've seen them with any consistency at any con or any shop in the last 4-5 years.

In your opinion, would 80's and 90's crap include dead universe books...? Looking for indie publishers mostly.400yrs wrote:Megacon is probably going to have your best and biggest selection of $1 issues. Actually, no. It's mainly DC and Marvel B and C level books. There is a guy who had most of the DU stuff for 25¢ at the Tampa cons, but he keeps bringing the same boxes of tanned, dusty books each time that have already been picked through.HaloReach2010 wrote: In your opinion, would 80's and 90's crap include dead universe books...? Most dealers don't bother bringing dead universe stuff because they can't sell it. Heck, I rarely see it at stores anymore. That stuff is either in storage (doubtful) or trashed.
