Ah. I thought that name was familiar. I only go to that site when it's linked from a site I read.

I like ifanboy.com because that site is all about reading comics and not speculating / investing at all.

Has this happened more frequently than I'm getting from the convo here?
Well you had Chew, Morning Glories, Skullkickers, and now this.

It seems like every ongoing that comes out, it happens too.

Nah. It's just that it's only happening with Image books so it seems like it. And it's definitely not all Image #1 ongoings. There have been a plethora of Image #1s that released without any appreciation at all.

Chew deserved it. Morning Glories is still up for debate. One thing both those books had in common was that they became popular after people read them.

Skullkicker and 27 were both talked up alot by the creators on websites, podcasts and such and exploded before release even.
Chew is probably the most unique and consistently inventive comic to debut since Fables. Oh, and I don't consider underground work by an otaku about an otaku doing his dead monkey-dog to be "inventive". THAT is just sick. Just saying.
Where can I find said sickness...

I think 27 #1 is loosing some momentum. I read it and felt it was just so-so and not that special. I sold my first copy for $19.99 w/ free S&H. My last 2 copies sold for $14.99 w/ free S&H. With that, I sold all my copies.

Just sold one for £14. I've got 3 more copies and it seems pretty strong on eBay uk.

Good move. They are selling for about $10 now. I figured that would happen when a book gets hyped before release. The true gems are the ones that do well only after release and people read them.

I was watching the news this morning and they were hyping out fantastic four #587 (one of the Fanastic four dies).Since it made national news im betting this book will go up at least for awhile.

I dont see it happening but Hopefully whichever of the Fantastic four dies they will stay dead.In real life you die, your dead.I dont like it when someone dies in a comic and they come back a few issues later, even if the character is one i like.

Yep death is nothing but a sales pitch for them.I dont like that, its almost as bad as Marvels use of variant covers.

The first Brubaker Captain America omni seems to be starting to rise. It's selling at retail or right around it. Just a few months ago, you could get this about half price. This will probably be the next omni that will rise because Marvel doesn't put them back into print. See Alias and the first Bendis DD omni for reference.

The more and more I think about it, Omnis, HC and trades (the first 2 moreso) seem to be the way to go. You get a complete story AND you can damn near always get your money back or close to it or more if you want to sell them. AND of course you can get them at a good discount. Singles..... you are lucky to sell for pennies on the dollar right after you buy them. It's like buying a Honda Accord compared to a Dodge Neon or soemthing.

I have followed Graphic novel sales for a few years now.
There is something to be said about the format and the print runs.
If you check actual numbers through Diamond, the figures tell a sad tale.
The larger books that get put out in book stores may bump figures up a bit, but lets face it the smaller print run books will much like any hot property rise according to demand and the OMNI books are lovely and in high grade should fetch a premium IMO.

Im still picking up 80's Marvel and DC 1st print Tpb's for joke prices here and there and they are gorgeous.

In that issue they are killing off a member of the FF4 and I believe that is the last issue of the series as well, at least for now.

I think the new series will be called "FF."

The creative team is Hickman and Epting. Marvel has released a possible logo, as seen here.

I would agree, other than the FF being the first silver age team book, to me, its has just been crap.

I like Hickman's writing. I have read many of his stories and they are all well written. I always finish reading them and it fills me with the feeling that my understanding of the story is incomplete - that I am missing something - but I still enjoy them.

He's about the only author that makes me feel that way.

I'd have agreed with you in the past but have you been reading Hickman's run? He's quickly becoming one of my favorite writers. I'm not sure I've read a more enjoyable FF run since Lee/Kirby --- mostly because so much has been mediocre crap since then (well, Byrne's run was solid too..). Btw, the current Garney art doesn't hurt.

Hickman's writing on SHIELD has also impressed me. Too bad it's bi-monthly but I'd rather have that than another bland monthly.

Wow, that's high praise for Hickman's FF run. I've always dug Garney's art. Sounds like I need to check it out. I liked Waid's run, at least what I read of it.
