Anyone use Drawerboxes?
So I'm doing a little reorganization around my house, getting some new furniture and accessories (bookcases, bedding/sheets, curtains, etc) and changing/redecorating some things. I'm turning a previously unused room into a den/reading room and I'm moving all my books and CDs into this room. I would also like to put my comics in here as well, but I don't want to have long and short boxes strewn all over the floor. ComicCubes are a little too expensive for me at the moment, but I think I would really like to have something modular and stackable. I looked at the Drawerbox website and I'm thinking this would be a good solution for me, but I would like to get some opinions from people who have used them that I can trust. So, anyone here used them? And what can you tell me about them that I need to know and the website hasn't told me?

I use 'em. They are great for stacking in closets and whatnot, but ultimately if you have the space, longboxes and some metal frame shelving is the best way to go.
Re: Anyone use Drawerboxes?
I have the short boxes (about 24 stacked 3 high) in my bedroom. My wife is ok with them against the back wall because they look neat when you connect them together. I didn't do the long boxes because they are just too bulky and heavy. I bought them two at a time until I had everything boxed up. Only two comic shops sold them in VA where I bought them. They sold out each time they got a shipment into the store. I was going to buy them online until I saw the cost of shipping. I could buy almost two extra boxes if I bought them from a shop. Shipping for a pack of five is like $23.

My old profile pic was a shot of my old office.
A wall made of them with enough room for my pc in the middle.
There are both good and bad points to them.

I trade as Dead Universe Comics in the UK, which is no surprise to those who know of my legendary Dead Universe habit.

Good point, I didn't realize the shipping was so high, I would likely order 25 short boxes, which would defintely cover me for now, and I would get a bit of a discount, but that shipping is a *SQUEE*. The only problem for me is that the nearest store locations that sell these are in Fayetteville, AR, which is about 4 hours away from where I live. Even so, the cost of travel would probably still be less than the cost of shipping an order like that.KO2003 wrote:I have the short boxes (about 24 stacked 3 high) in my bedroom. Good points - your stuff is easy to access. Boxes are sturdy. Internal drawer reinforcement comes with them and allows for easy organisation into batches of about 25 comics. They look neat
Bad points - cost. You do need some form of external reinforcement (i.e. a shelving unit of some description) for the boxes themselves as they bow if you stack them more than about 3 high. They take about 3 times longer to put together as normal boxes. They don't hold as many comics as a standard short box because of the extra cardboard walling even if you leave out the internal reinforcement/dividers.

I've had them stacked 4 high - no bowing or sagging. Long boxes too, so more weight. Don't leave out the internal reinforcement.Drift wrote:Good points - your stuff is easy to access. I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.
