A Little Advice, Please?
Hi all! haven't really been around in a LOOOOOONG time, but once I heard of the relaunch, I decided to dig through my comics (first time in a few years)
Anyway, I'm planning on trying to complete my Shadow Man collection soon, but I'm curious about what Valiant titles to try to find next.
I never really read any other Valiant titles when they were out except for the crossover books and such like Deathmate.
So, any suggestions about what the best series are?

Re: A Little Advice, Please?
Id try X-O Manowar i liked most except for some of the mid run.Solar i enjoyed pretty much the whole run.
If I just can't be me ,and the Arrow isn't enough.. then maybe I should be Ra's al Ghul

Re: A Little Advice, Please?
Harbinger
Eternal Warrior
X-O
Solar
Magnus
Archer Armstorng
And then of course, you are going to need to read them all, that is just the way it is.

Re: A Little Advice, Please?
The ones that I'm trying to chose from are Eternal Warrior, Solar, and X-O.
Solar I read an issue or two and I remember seeing X-O, but I know I never read Eternal Warrior. Looking at the concept now (many years more mature), the Eternal Warrior concept seems pretty cool
I kept digging through my 2 long boxes and found I did have some Harbinger including the TPB and some random issues.

If i had to read any of the runs if it was me id go for all the Pre-Unitys first they were hands down the best.

EW or X-O is above Solar as a complete run. Pre Unity Solar is GREAT!Serpymatt wrote:The ones that I'm trying to chose from are Eternal Warrior, Solar, and X-O.

Plus the BWS art on the pre-Unity Solars is sweet. Some of my favorite artwork on all comics.

If you liked Shadowman, I think Rai 1-8 and the Magnus books with the Rai mini-series flipbook. Tohru Nakadai was an awesome character. But between Eternal Warrior, Solar, and X-O, I'm biased towards Solar. He's the first character that got me into Valiant comics.

It's XO, for me, but I have fond memories of Solar...although for me, that book just sort of lost it post-Unity. I think Magnus was a greater overall accomplishment, at least until Giffen got hold of it. The flip book issues were awesome.EternalMagnus wrote:If you liked Shadowman, I think Rai 1-8 and the Magnus books with the Rai mini-series flipbook. Tohru Nakadai was an awesome character. You're missing out. The early Magnus stories are some of Valiant's best. Plus, you have Rai tying in starting with issue 5.Serpymatt wrote:Magnus is one I don't think I've ever even read one issue of...

I first got into Magnus around issue 25 and enjoyed the Malev War, which lead me to go back and catch up. I don't like to even think of Giffen

Re: A Little Advice, Please?
Frankly - most Valiant is a great buy, and worth the read.
Find bigger runs on ebay - if they're just for reading - and dig in. Most of the runs can be found relatively cheaply, and filled in at the edges.
Even the more expensive books tend to be worth the read. Early SOLAR and Magnus are great - but Magnus hits a rough patch early.
Frankly, the misses aren't that expensive. Outside of Rai 3 and 4, which aren't GREAT (only good), most 'expensive' stuff is still relatively inexpensive. New comics are in the $4 range, and most Valiants can be found well under $1.
Archer and Armstrong are my personal fave - but SOLAR, Rai, and early Magnus are all excellent. X-O Manowar has aged brilliantly, and Harbinger hasn't (but isn't bad, still).
I even liked the early HARDCorps, too.

Not many of us do. You could tell it was basically just a paycheck for him and he had absolutely no regard for any of the characters.EternalMagnus wrote:

Yeah, I just read the entire Unity Saga again over this past vacation. Such an amazing concept, well worth picking up the trade or individual issues that combine.MoonChild wrote:YOU MUST READ "UNITY" if you want to really get your Valiant FIXX!~
