Read a Few Issues of X-O
Well, I've been trying to decide what series to hunt down after Shadowman. I have a few scattered issues of several series, so I started reading. Harbinger was good, didn't care for Bloodshot from what I read. Then I decided to check out X-O Manowar.
I am really liking what I've seen! I can see why they would choose it to relaunch the universe
Guess I'll eventually be looking for a reading set that I can get bound

Re: Read a Few Issues of X-O
Just out of curiosity, what issues did you read of each title?
Re: Read a Few Issues of X-O
I pretty much tried all of Valiant's "big" books in the early days. Never cared much for Magnus or Rai. Never cared for Harbinger (don't hate me). Bloodshot was OK but not good enough to make me stay. Got into Solar some and Turok as well. Liked the first dozen issues of Archer and Armstrong. I also liked Eternal Warrior though didn't stick with it, mostly for financial reasons. My favorite 2 by far were Shadowman and XO .... good choices!
I will probably give just about everything a go again this time around and see what sticks.

I read the Harbinger TPB - enjoyed it.greg wrote:Just out of curiosity, what issues did you read of each title?
I read the Rai TPB - didn't really care for it.
Bloodhsot - read 1,3, 6, 9, 16 - not really my style from what I saw.
X-O Manowar - read 7, 15, 18, 19, 22 - loved 'em!

I actually just picked it up a few weeks ago and loved the read. They cleaned it up really well too, from what I remember of the old books I had.Elveen wrote:Serpymatt wrote:I read the Harbinger TPB - enjoyed it.greg wrote:Just out of curiosity, what issues did you read of each title?

It usually helps to start at #1 and then go to 2, 3, 4, etc. I'm not saying every title is for everyone (I don't care much for Magnus) but the 5 books you read have 5 very different story arcs. You've got his involvement with the mob in one, the Weaponeer/Ninjak in another, Sosa in 9, and going into a coma in 16. It's just kind of all over the place story-wise.

While I'd love to get more complete runs, funds aren't exactly allowing that right nowBlood of Heroes wrote:Serpymatt wrote:Just working with what I haveBlood of Heroes wrote:Serpymatt wrote: Bloodhsot - read 1,3, 6, 9, 16 - not really my style from what I saw.

IMO The Steel Nation TPB, Harbinger Children of the Eighth Day TPB, X-O retribution TPB and Solar Alpha and Omega TPB are must reads for anyone who consideres themselves a valiant fan...
They are all fairly easy to find on the cheap too...

I just got Solar Alpha and Omega and read it this weekend. What's the difference between X-O Retribution and the Hard Cover?myron wrote:IMO The Steel Nation TPB, Harbinger Children of the Eighth Day TPB, X-O retribution TPB and Solar Alpha and Omega TPB are must reads for anyone who consideres themselves a valiant fan...

Then I'm happy I got the hardcover, considering I got more comics.

My copy is paper.Elveen wrote:You should get the X-O TPB, it is gold.
But it is a good read!
If you like X-O, keep your eyes out for a podcast show about X-O Manowar's greatest hits, smashing out of your headphones soon.

He should definitely get the hardcover version......Although, I'd suggest he skip the #0 issue, as I always thought that issue was crap.

Re: Read a Few Issues of X-O
I think I have an extra copy of the TPB if you're interested.
Re: Read a Few Issues of X-O
It was definitely #0. I remember the dialogue not being that great, and there was something in the story which contradicted the original storyline (I assume somewhere in issues 1-3).Lightning Strike wrote:#0 was awesome! It's been a while since I've read it. I might re-read the HC sometime soon to see what it was that bothered me.
