Between now and May, what to read?

Post by Ross2 »

So I have been out of Valiant and comics for awhile, but I plan on getting back into things in May when X-O comes out.

Anyone have some recommendations of what I should read between now and then?

FYI I have none of my Valiant books anymore. :(

If you can get them cheap enough on eBay, the Dark Key books are worth a look, I guess. Magnus seem pretty solid from what I read. Solar got better after they got rid of the first villain. I really like the one issue of Mighty Samson I read.

If you can find the Valiant HCs of late, they were all really good reads. The bonus stories were really good too. Not sure they're worth paying $25 for, but I'm sure you can find them cheaper now.

The back of cereal packets?

War & Peace?

The Materials of Dianetics and Scientology By L. Ron Hubbard?

Maybe not.

Seriously:

Find em cheap or go digital on:

Magnus from Dark Horse. Solar #1-10. The new Animal Man, Swamp Thing & Batman from the new 52. Archer & Armstrong #1-12.

I'd head back, and look for X-O now. Get the HC, then pick up the other between issues.

ENJOY!

It's a better read now than it was in the nineties, IMHO.

Besides Harbinger & X-O, has VEI created any other collections? And are they all HC?

Thanks

Nope. Just those three.

All in HC.

But the new stories were decent.

The third one being Archer & Armstrong, which hasn't been mentioned yet.

As far as bonus material goes, Archer and Armstrong is the best of the three HCs, though my opinion is that Harbinger is the better of the three stories. It reads almost like a movie.

Fables (read from the start) - it totally creams my corn...
and if you want some awesome mini-series to pick up i would very strongly suggest: Empire (DC), Midnight Nation (TopCow, Straczynski), Violent Messiahs is fun, Pride of Baghdad

also I would pick up Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Understanding_Comics" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
it's fantastic. I recommend it to all fans of sequential art.

there's always more to read :)
