How was Acclaim's Magnus: Robot Fighter?
I've read a few of Acclaim's books after they re-did the Valiant line.
I didn't like X-O. Bloodshot was pretty good.

For me it started alright, but meandered, lost it's way and became pretty bad toward the end.

I thought it was bad from beginning to end. I didn't read a lot of the Acclaim versions and this series made me feel like I made the right decision.

There is only one Magnus. Acclaim was not on the cover of it.

I read the first issue of the Acclaim Magnus.
It didn't make any sense.
It's terrible.

They took a cool concept and character, then turned the book into something terrible.

Tom Peyer didn't write the best book but Mike McKone sure penciled like a superstar for the first 6 issues.

Re: How was Acclaim's Magnus: Robot Fighter?
The Acclaim writers have my sympathy. They were given an impossible task:Daniel Jackson wrote:They took a cool concept and character, then turned the book into something terrible.
"Okay, there's a really loyal fanbase attached to these titles and characters, and some of them have a pedigree that goes back 35 years. We want you to totally change the look and motivations of the characters and take the books in a different direction than the fans have come to expect. Oh, and we're upsetting all of the applecarts simultaneously, so you can expect that the fans will be confused, angry and unforgiving. Good luck."
You have to wonder if they felt like they were given some great opportunity or if they were putting their heads into a noose.

I think I managed to get the complete set of this series out of a quarter bin, whatever that tells you.
