Re: X-0 1:50 Auctions
I scooped one at $45 because I never got the deal with Paradise...I saw an auction go as low as $20 BIN. I think we'll probably see prices between 25-55 with averages around $40 or so for awhile...there does seem to be a quick influx of these right out of the gate, eh?

I could be wrong, but I can see this book raising in value over time.

I agree. I'm willing to bet that the auction books sell for much more than the early BINs do. It looks like the Bloodshot shotglasses all over again.Elveen wrote:I could be wrong, but I can see this book raising in value over time.

If I hadn't bought the paradise deal I would definitely have jumped on one of these deals for ~40 bucks. I don't think I would pay more then that though.

Yep. That's the way it always is with the variants. A bunch hit the market at the beginning so retailers can recover some of their cost on the extra copies they bought (the purpose of these). Prices most always drop initially because of that initial supply.
What happens in the future depends on the popularity of the book. The supply, ample now, will inevitably dry up. The demand, up right now, depends on popularity. Most variants just nose dive altogether, but there are exceptions (TWD 50, 75 come to mind).

Re: X-0 1:50 Auctions
Are you still talking about 1:50 variants? Because there weren't any on Ebay today, except for the "Sets of 4" that sold for $94 (shipped).400yrs wrote:The supply, ample now, will inevitably dry up.
I'd say the 1:50 is easily $60 of that $94, if not more.
Kind of surprising actually, I figured someone would test the BIN prices at $59.99+, but none were listed today.

I only open my wallet for the first books in relaunches of universes that I loved 20 years ago. After that, I get cheap again.

Greg I'm surprised the new valiant hasn't offered you a special deal on books.greg wrote:Believe it or not, I paid $49.99 in a pre-order on April 7th.GGSAE wrote:Then you should jump on all those sets for $89.99! Re: X-0 1:50 Auctions
Yes, I was, but I hadn't checked the auctions today. Damn. I'm surprised there aren't any BINs up for only that book. I'd expect more of these out on the market than there currently are. There may be less of these printed than even I thought.greg wrote:Are you still talking about 1:50 variants? It will be interesting to see what the auctions go for.
I have one in hand and am expecting two more, but I won't be letting go of these any time soon. If I planned to sell one off, I'd put it up at $99.95 BIN for 30 days and leave it. That's how I've sold alot of books that quickly disappear from the market. Set it and forget it. But even getting $100 for this wouldn't interest me right now.

Re: X-O 1:50 Auctions
It's probably important to note that X-O 1:50 has not sold as an auction yet.400yrs wrote:$58 and $63 now with the $89.99 sets moving pretty well.
All sales at all prices have been set by the sellers with "Buy-It-Now".
Competing bidders are just now getting to impact the actual market price.
It's possible that the "Buy-It-Now" prices at $50 and under have been far too low.
(Whether they will remain too low is a different question, but supply/demand rule.)
Imagine what they'd be if there weren't 40 already claimed by members of this board through Paradise's deal.

Re: X-O 1:50 Auctions
It's strange, how these bidders get into a battle w/o noticing the sets available, North of $60 it's smarter to grab the sets...I think the sustainability of this 1:50 variant and future ones is like it, is to keep the variants limited. If the new Valiant turns into a Harris (or god forbid Chaos) company of multiple variants for each issue, they won't be sought after. And ultimately when the focus is on variant covers, the product noticeably suffers.greg wrote:It's probably important to note that X-O 1:50 has not sold as an auction yet.400yrs wrote:$58 and $63 now with the $89.99 sets moving pretty well.

What do you mean shill bidding? These have been on ebay a week? Think of this as an IPO in the secondary markets, highly, highly speculative.maraxusofkeld wrote:GGSAE wrote:It's strange, how these bidders get into a battle w/o noticing the sets available, North of $60 it's smarter to grab the sets...I think the sustainability of this 1:50 variant and future ones is like it, is to keep the variants limited.
