I don't know anything about today's variants, but do these retain value or are these things going to plummet in the coming months?

I don't know about plummet...

Will the price decrease? Maybe.

If the interest is high, my guess is that the price will find a comfortable niche. If popularity keeps going up, it may never see that.

Would you call the Eternal Warrior 27 VVSS outrageous at $200? $250?

The print run for this issue - will be around 800/give or take.

Just like EW VVSS 27.

CEAR is estimated at 2000. And it's Chaos Effect.

This is one of the hottest comics right now.

If it stays hot, so will the price. If it doesn't, speculators in the group will drop it.

We will see.

I think with the CEAR and EW, there's fewer of these out there because they weren't coveted when released. But I do agree with you that when you consider this could be a highly sought after book with around 600-800 copies the demand could steadily keep prices rising. I was looking at the 1:200 Avengers/X-Men Variant that probably has around the same print run, and the prices ranged from $120-$200. So maybe this X-O book has stabilized, but again, if this relaunch over time becomes huge, something comparative to TWD, who knows where the price could go. I'm happy I managed to grab my only copy at $45 when I saw how quickly the ones at 35 were selling, and I didn't want to risk exactly this sort of thing happening.

Suddenly, the prices I paid for my copies doesn't look too bad.

The $200 has got to be a bubble. As is typical, and always happens.

I think there's a lot of buyers that would list their copies at 200-300 dollars if they had them in their hands. So it's possible the first wave of sellers (non-retailers) might be listing soon. I don't think we can say for certain this price is a top. I was reading an old TWD thread on the CGC forums where everyone was talking about how ridiculous it was when prices of number one was between 50-100, and now look where it sells for. And remember that comic has 6 times the print run of this variant. No one knows where this will go, but if you want a single copy to keep as a collector/fan of the series it doesn't really matter what you pay for it if you have no plans on selling....assuming you're not using rent money to buy it.

You're arguing the exception as evidence for the rule. When X-O Manowar, the TV show, becomes the most popular show AMC has ever produced, I may agree.

I don't think this book will ever drop below $50, primarily because I imagine there are enough of us boredies that would buy them for $50.

$200 may not be the peak of the bubble, but I imagine it is a bubble, as almost always happens.

We'll see.

I think $50 might be low. Maybe $100. Kinda like the GBU. Except this is a #1 issue with the 1st app of Aric and Gilad.

I also envision the Bloodshot orders going up over the next two weeks. 60,000, perhaps? That demand will force up a new demand for Harbinger - which I think will be insane out of the gate.

I see a set of the four 1:50 covers at $1000.

It's the steepness of the incline that makes me think "bubble".

As late as last Friday, I was hemming and hawing over buying another (available) QR variant for $45.

Thee days later, it is selling for 4 times that amount. It doesn't seem like a sustainable level of increase. I imagine it is fueled in part by the shortage we've seen of these books due to the trucking accident.

Not to completely disagree with you Kevin, but ... :P

I don't think that's going to happen. I think Bloodshot will be around 25-30k. X-O was the first issue of the new universe and it sold 42k. The crazy price for the 1:50 variant does not mean sales of Bloodshot are going to be any higher in my opinion. The series need time to come out and develop a following before sales will rise like that.

I don't think Harbinger will see 42k either.

The 4 1:50 covers will also not hit $1000. That is an unrealistic price in my opinion. Until the books have several issues out and develop a large following there is no reason for the price to be that high.

This of coarse is only my opinion, which means absolutly nothing.
