Personally, I'm moving toward not interested in things like the bloodshot 6 vvss and platinum 0, since there seems to be no way to very they are legit.
At least in the case of the BS 6, you won't be out a lot of $$$ if it's not the real deal.

I'm glad he posted it. I try my best to do the same with Valiant related auctions that way if someone here missed it they have a chance to bid on it. Several times people have done that for me and i have been very grateful!

I can't believe that there are 48 bids so far for these books. There are still 5 days left to go!

If the Plat is legit, the auction could easily reach $1,000 or more.wyospl wrote:Any guesses of what this auction will go off at???

Wow, what a tremendous lot. The seller has good timing, offering it after the relaunch has started.
Thanks for posting it.

if its a plat it looks nothing like any plat I've seen pics of. just looks like a really crappy misprint gold. not the nice crisp true plats we drool over.

Yea, I wonder about that plat, but it is in nature an error comic so to speak. All the rest look totally legit though. Thanks for posting this Up, amazing collection. Just so curious about that plat!

He's added a new photo of the Plat to the auction. The gold/orange streaking really stands out. If it is legit, it's certainly the messiest looking one yet.

This I have trouble believing, and it would be enough to make me question the legitimacy of the whole thing.Aram wrote:Person said its a consignment item and the seller didnt know what the items are worth which is why its an auction and you cant "buy" it.

Re: Bloodshot Platinum and crazy gold lot on ebay
I would have mayybe considered $500 for the lot, knowing that if the plat was false I would be out 250-300 or so. But now looking at that pic again, I would walk away from this. The Venom Black scares me. The only other modern comparative bloodshot platinum, which is also known to be the target of counterfeits, the seller just happens to have as well...super coincidence. Can CGC detect forgeries on these things?Rufusharley wrote:if its a plat it looks nothing like any plat I've seen pics of. just looks like a really crappy misprint gold. not the nice crisp true plats we drool over.

Re: Bloodshot Platinum and crazy gold lot on ebay
I emailed the seller to see what other rare moderns he has, and his reply was not worth the price of shipping! It just seems too sketchy that of the few books he has are stupidly rare variant print errors. If he was a major distributor maybe, but I wonder how possible it was a BS plat ended up in Manilla?ckb wrote:This I have trouble believing, and it would be enough to make me question the legitimacy of the whole thing.Aram wrote:Person said its a consignment item and the seller didnt know what the items are worth which is why its an auction and you cant "buy" it.

I might agree with you if there was a member looking for a small-priced book, or even a moderately-priced book that no one else had interest in. But when there's an active market for it, why not buy it then offer it to someone else if you want?FormerReader wrote:GGSAE wrote:How do you know that? I'm glad he posted it. I try my best to do the same with Valiant related auctions that way if someone here missed it they have a chance to bid on it. Several times people have done that for me and i have been very grateful!
One of my best finds ever was finding a rare ashcan in the netherlands; I had sifted through pages of pages and spent countless hours searching for it. Those that put in the effort should be rewarded.
Imagine if you found a CEAR in a dollar bin and while you're at the cash register, the guy in the line next to you tells the owner it's worth a $100, so the owner refuses to sell it to you.
My last point is that I don't know of any other intelligent buyers who do not snipe, or bid very late at the end of the auction. If I bid $100-200 on this lot, clearly I'm suggesting activity, and want to drive up the price: a) knowing I won't be putted to the purchase as it won't sell there, b) In a way because I know I can't afford the auction I'm gaining satisfaction knowing that other ppl will 'pay up for it' like the tactics those guys pull on storage wars.

I understand your point and appreciate it. If I see any Valiant books/art and I'm not going to bid on it I try to post the info. since others have done the same here for me and I was able to buy several items because of that. I don't think anyone here has malicious intent to screw over the people bidding on an item. I think it is just so others here are informed.
I appreciate the time it takes to find certain items and it can be a pain when someone else comes in and bids it up, but no one is entiltled to an item because they found it and someone else didn't. I have been bid up on many items. It sucks, but we all understand that is part of the process of tracking these items down.
If you find a CEAR in the dollar bin congrats!

I think this is two different situations. There is no malicious intent in posting info. here. We are all trying to help each other out. The situation with the CEAR is some guy with the intent to screw you over.

I've never used a snipe service as I'm not big into comics (other than Valiant), but I do admit I bid late in auctions. Sometimes I bid high early on in an auction to scare people off. Many people won't bid on something once it gets out of their comfort range. I may pay more than something is worth because I want it. I don't do it just to force others to pay more I do it because I want it.

Re: Bloodshot Platinum and crazy gold lot on ebay
I'm about the same in that i'm selective in what I buy, so I usually go for the snipes and if I win it, i win it - it was determined by a preset price, based off a few different valuations models I use. And I don't think it's different if you bid early with a maximum and keep it at that, either way a lost auction is from someone wanting it more....but I do know of sellers/distributors that will solicit what buyers will bid on an item that they had no interest in, only to try to attain it and then sell it to their maximum.FormerReader wrote:GGSAE wrote:I might agree with you if there was a member looking for a small-priced book, or even a moderately-priced book that no one else had interest in.
