I see both sides here.
Imagine for a second that, you or your heirs got someone to sell your Bloodshot Platinum and this same situation happened, you'd want to be able to pull the plug and get FAIR value for it.

I just hope that the combined final bids don't beat out the last highest bid - or perhaps what someone MIGHT have bid.Daniel Jackson wrote:Sad but true.kevinbastos wrote:If a dealer, I wouldn't return - or bid - again.
Unfortunately, this is a DISGUSTINGLY rare item. If someone REALLY wants it, he/she will still bid.

Re: Bloodshot Platinum and crazy gold lot on ebay
Obviously they knew it has some value. After all, the original lot did not include crap comics like Turok #1 or PSI Lords 1. The original listing included only rare/variant/valuable comics. The Beyonder wrote:I see both sides here.

If I had some item that I knew was worth some money, just not sure how much, I would make sure I wanted to get as much information before hand as possible. If I have some rare antique that I want to sell, and I know it is worth something, it is my responsibility to either find out the value, or hire someone who would find out the value. Just because I messed up (or the person I hired messed up) doesn't give me the right to pull the auction like that - especially since it was already going for a fair amount, and would have gone higher. Stopping the auction, so it can be listed separately to simply milk as much as possible, only because the original seller didn't do his research, is crap. IMO.

Absolutely, Chris; could not agree more.cjv wrote:Just because I messed up (or the person I hired messed up) doesn't give me the right to pull the auction like that - especially since it was already going for a fair amount, and would have gone higher. But the hard truth of it is this likely happens far more often that any of us here would like to believe

I do agree with you guys, all valid points. But I also don't like ripping people off just because they didn't have all the info.
Lets be honest, only the die hard Valiant collectors know of Bloodshot Plat. Even then, I didn't know about it until just recently. A 'completed listings' check was done, and nothing came up. I think it's only fair that the guy who owns this gets fair value for it.
The situation blows, regardless.

That's total BS. Ebay is not the place to learn what something is worth. The guy was the biggest LCS in the Philipines and he had no idea how to figure out how much the book would fetch? Somebody send this a-hole an Overstreet Guide.

Curiosity here... is Bloodshot Plat listed in Overstreet? If so, I'm curious what they list it at.jmatt wrote:That's total BS. Ebay is not the place to learn what something is worth. In all honesty, I don't think changing the listing is going to fetch more money. Possibly less. As I said earlier, whoever wins this will likely be from this board and we all already knew about it. This just means no one will be paying a premium for all the other books.

On the other hand, if people really do avoid this auction because of this, then it's entirely likely to fetch even less because there will be less competing bidders. I still don't see that happening, but you never know. Everyone could just wait until the end and try to snipe it.

Didn't someone from the boards alert the seller about this auction? That's the irony of this thread, the seller wouldn't have pulled this move otherwise.superman-prime wrote:its called resh. before you list something

Re: Bloodshot Platinum and crazy gold lot on ebay
But do you think that auction would have ended up "ripping off" the seller? It was already up to >$600, my hunch is it would have gotten to $800 or so pretty easily. With the talk on this board, it might have gone higher. The Beyonder wrote:I do agree with you guys, all valid points. I agree that I do feel bad ripping people off at times. But selling a lot of nice books for $800 doesn't strike me as a rip-off.

Devil's Advocate: Even though the guide value of Bloodshot Plat is $800? That's like getting all of those other books for free.cjv wrote: I agree that I do feel bad ripping people off at times. But selling a lot of nice books for $800 doesn't strike me as a rip-off.

Honestly, I think it would have sold over $800 easy. Didn't it still have 5 days left on the auction?

Auction ended early??
Says listing is no longer available.
I knew something was up with this listing from the beginning.

They botched the auction from the very start, that's for sure. At least the book appears to be legit now that more info and pics have been released. Hopefully the seller gets his act together the second time around.drmirage wrote:Auction ended early??

Exactly! Someone pointed the seller here, as they joined just to respond (and most probably respond to all the people making off-Ebay offers).GGSAE wrote:Didn't someone from the boards alert the seller about this auction? This isn't the rarest valiant comic ever made...whomever contacted the seller about this thread in the first place, can you relay that message to him.

That's right. My 1400 page epic Geoff, The God of Biscuits that I have written and drawn over the past 18 years is the rarest. Even has my blood in the ink.GGSAE wrote:This isn't the rarest valiant comic ever made...whomever contacted the seller about this thread in the first place, can you relay that message to him.

I hear this brings huge bids in the Phillipines. Where are you going to vacation for life once you sell this?

Since I know there's no way I'm going to win, I'm not even bidding. No sense in making the winner pay more than they have to.
