Books are here: CGC 9.8s A&A 1 / BS 2 / Harb 3 / X-O 4
Pretty much the same deal as last month! Deadline is June 20th.
Change: Due to the huge PITA this endeavor has become, I am going to limit the deal to 10 slabs of each book. If we get over 10 I will "wait list" the order, and then it all depends on how many slabs I get back. Also, because of the screening problems, I removed the rule about offering "upgrades" to grades over 9.8 for a fixed price.
These books come out in August, and you should not expect your slab (or, hopefully not, refund) before November. I should get them back way before then, but it actually could be November. I guarantee I will have them in the mail to CGC quickly after the release date.
Rules:
1. Price is $40/slab. I worked the numbers and this is what I have to do, unforunately. I am going to be paying about $5/copy for the raw books. I worked out a deal with a local shop to screen them right out of the cases when they come in. So, if you work out my out-of-pocket costs:
$5 (book) + $18 (slab fee + return shipping) + $1 (shipping to CGC) + $10 (shipping to you) + $1.50 (paypal fee) + $0.30 (bag/board/HOTFLIPS CGC bag) = $35.80
2. Post what you want in this thread - XO 4 regular, Harbinger 3 regular, Bloodshot 2 regular, A&A 1 regular, A&A 1 pullbox variant. Everyone is limited to 1 of each book.
3. Do not edit your post past the 20th or I may not honor your order.
4. I have decided, probably unwisely, to go on the honor system in terms of payment if you just want one. Please don't make me be sorry. Be prepared to pay me via paypal in August or September. This way if I have to refund anything I can do it for free within the paypal system.
5. Removed.
6. In the unlikely event I do not have enough slabs to go around, we will use a lottery run by a third party to determine who gets the slabs and who gets refunds.
7. In the extremely unlikely event that I have enough slabs to go around but some are above 9.8, the following will be how the slabs are allocated: 1. I get one of the highest grade off the top for the master set. 2. A lottery run by a third party will be held to determine who gets the higher grades at the original $40 price. 3. Everyone else gets 9.8s. ( I can't stress how unlikely this is because I am going to oversubmit by a lot. I just want people to know I am not going to refund their money and then go and sell 9.9s I got back.)
8. The process will be as open and transparent as possible. You will know how many of each book I submit and how many I get back and what grades. I will work to keep this as fair as possible.
That's it. Thanks to everyone. If anything is unclear ask questions here.

What's the status on the earlier slabs? I've chimed in for a couple and don't really know if/when/how to proceed. Thanks.

It's all spelled out in the first post (of this thread or whatever thread you signed up in). If you have any specific questions, please ask.jmatt wrote:What's the status on the earlier slabs? I've chimed in for a couple and don't really know if/when/how to proceed. Thanks.
The status is either "waiting for CGC" or "waiting for release date".

I've never owned any CGC books. Let's do 1 of each book.
Thanks.

A&A 1 looks OK. Regular and Pullbox both have the "bad" cover stock, but not as bad as XO 1 was. My shop was shorted the Variants again, a recurring problem. I've been told they are using a good cover stock for them - we will see next week.
I can say the XO 2 second print is GORGEOUS with a great thick glossy stock.

Here come the invoices. I am going to save these up until I have a boxful to submit. May have to submit twice this month. So with these first two invoices they won't get into the mail for a week or two.

Because Diamond sucks, my shop was shorted both BS2 and H3 today. I had a only a few copies to look at. It looked to me like BS2 fared better than H3 in terms of cover stock. The remainder should be in Friday.
I saw one copy of each of the H3 and BS2 variants. The heavier stock on the variants looks good, except they will still take damage from getting banged around. They should be distributed bagged and boarded.
The good news is that the content of both books is stellar.

Sounds like this is a widespread shortage.ckb wrote:Because Diamond sucks, my shop was shorted both BS2 and H3 today. I had a only a few copies to look at. It looked to me like BS2 fared better than H3 in terms of cover stock. The remainder should be in Friday.

You guys have me worried...only reason I am going to my LCS is to pick up my Valiants. If they don't have them I will be pretty disappointed.ian_house wrote:Sounds like this is a widespread shortage.ckb wrote:Because Diamond sucks, my shop was shorted both BS2 and H3 today.
