Eternal Warrior 6 and 7

Post by riprap »

I recently read Eternal Warrior #6 and #7 for the first time and had to share some thoughts. These are comics at their best! Great writing and beautiful art by Barry Windsor Smith! A story about friendship and epic villainy! Master Darque was a pretty scary villain, in total control throughout the story. I loved the relationship between Gilad, Geoff and Buck. Just a spectacular two-parter. Maybe the best Valiant comics I've read!

I agree, just brilliant. Great covers, terrifying aspects, Darque truly ghoulish,
The bagh nakah (sp?). Great books.

Great stuff. I remember BWS getting introduced as the artist, and wondering how he could keep it up. Of course, it was a short run. But some of the best EW.

If I win an argument, it doesn't mean I'm right. It means I'm a better arguer.

In addition, I'm right.

By far, my favorite EW or Master Darque story. For me this is the story that defined these characters.

Definitely two of my favorite EW stores. Personally EW#1 is still a sentimental favorite for me (loved the way the told the origin/history of the brothers). My top 5 EW stories (off the top of my head):

1. EW #1 (Origin of the Immortal Brothers)
2. EW #6-7 (EW and Buck vs Master Darque)
3. EW #4 (Origin of Immortal Enemy, Caldone Storyline)
4. EW #47-50 (Suicide in the Desert storyline)
5. EW Yearbook #1 (Cool Aussie story, showed a very cold/brutal side of Gilad's personality)

I found those two issues in the bargain bin about a month ago and so I have also just read them for the first time recently. I agree with the general sentiment here, they make for an incredible two-part story that still holds up. Classic.

Love the BWS art of course, but the characterization of Darque is particularly great - right now I'd say its the best Darque story I've read, though I am all set to re-read Shadowman for the first time in about 10-12 years [and I just got 1-6 which will be my first time reading them]. I can't remember how good his first appearance in #8 is...

My wife likes to draw stuff too, and she is better than me! [I'm very proud of her]... https://www.facebook.com/pages/Sara-Dec ... ref=stream" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

the Bloodrunner / intro to Darque was epic. I did a SM #8 breakdown on the Onlythevaliant.com website in my section, "The Magic Satchel"
