Are New Members former VH1 Fans or new VEI Fans?
Since the begining of May of this year there are 49 new members who have posted at least once on this site (There are a bunch of others who have no posts at all).
I was wondering how many of these new members are brand new fans of Valiant and how many are former fans who were just brought back recently due to the return of Valiant.

I'm strictly a VEI fan. I know absolutely nothing about those VH1 books.

If you are, VH1 = original Valiant Universe (1991-1996)
If you aren't, you son of a gun...

Vh1 was also known as the malibu ultraverse line of comics that the new Valiant is stealing characters from?

It's not that I don't have an avatar... I've just been working on it for the last few hundred years.

Hell YES, then CBS had to go and ruin it by taking Jeff Probst away to Survivor. I really dig the celeb eps especially the ones with Mark McGrath and Baba Booey from the Stern Show. I was such a geek for this show and rock and roll trivia that i used to play it all the time online on the VH1 website.MarrowMan wrote:I loved that showMarkRoseHFX wrote:I'm HUGE VH1 fan. I was an original fan, I had a massive collection when things starting taking off, was selling all the big titles of valiant(and I had lots of them) at the local flea market and then I put an ad in the Comic Buyers Guide and thats when my collection really started to deplete. I stopped collecting around Chaos Effect, I tried the second series of Shadowman(i think it was) but stopped after that. I always looked for old issues of valiant through the years but nothing shows up anymore, but here in nova scotia, I can assure you there are a lot of harbinger 0 and 1's(not that they show up)

Re: Are New Members former VH1 Fans or new VEI Fans?
I loved the VH1 stuff right from Magnus #1, but slowly petered out and stopped altogether just a little after Chaos Effect. Still enjoyed re-reading what I had over the years, but never sought to fill gaps in my collection. I'm definitely back on board as of the re-launch... and I've probably picked up in the range of 80-90 back issues of VH1 stuff since May, trying out a number of titles I didn't collect back in the day.

Re: Are New Members former VH1 Fans or new VEI Fans?
I am a fan of both. I have all regular issues of VH1 (and some of the VH2 line). I have most of the premium VH1 books too. Deep down I wish that the two universes were somehow connected but I respect and am eager to see where the new creative team takes the characters.

Re: Are New Members former VH1 Fans or new VEI Fans?
I started collecting VH1 with lunch and lawn mowing money in high school right after unity. I'm not 100% sure but I think the first book I got was the Shadowman mask book. I loved it so much I got every Valiant comic until I started dating girls which conveniently was around birthquake
I have spent this summer purchasing all the VH1 issues I didn't own and have been doing a complete re-read. I just finished reading the X-O birthquake garbage where Ken is killed off by an Image villain. I literally felt nauseous. The Pre-Birthquake stuff still holds up as being great reads though to this 35 year old.

That is UH1. UH2 starts with Black September and everything that follows, except for Future Shock which is kind of like Unity 2000 for the Ultraverse.Aram wrote:Vh1 was also known as the malibu ultraverse line of comics that the new Valiant is stealing characters from?

Re: Are New Members former VH1 Fans or new VEI Fans?
New VEI fan here, I've never read any of the old Valiant books and I really have no intention of doing so since I have a love for these characters in the VEI universe with new material coming out every month. I think it's cool that Valiant's fan base isn't just old Valiant fans and that they've built up a nice sized community of brand new fans to these characters, if it was just old fans hanging on I don't think they'd be doing nearly as well as they are.
