Me :?: I wanted the Visitor to be the 'Map Giver' in X-O #0 (or I was hoping the Map Giver was going to be Ivar, Timewalker! - OKAY yes the Map Giver was in jest supposedly Elvis  )

Anyway, I was hoping that the Visitor was going to be someone different instead of one of the established cast.

I would have liked it to be Archer!

I remember reading the series as it was being released and being really jazzed about the big mystery of "who is the Visitor?". I remember thinking that it was probably going to be a character crossing over from another publisher....hence the name "The Visitor". I was thinking along the lines of Superman, or Doctor Strange! Could have been very cool. Sometimes I wonder if maybe that was the plan all along, and perhaps they started publishing the series before they had the deal worked out with the other company to use the character. And then the deal fell through and they ended up switching it to Pete Stanchek. Anyone out there know any inside info on this? Was I reading too much into this, was Pete always going to be the Visitor?

I dont know if stancheck was always supposed to be the visitor, but I was excited about the harbinger. I got hooked on valiant comics due to the Harbinger trade. After issue 25 I stayed around, but was slways hoping for a return to greatness for that series. I had high hopes after flamingo showed up only to have them be smashed by the end of vh1.

that would have been very interesting. Someone like Superman would have been leaked far too early though, the guy is too big a name. it would have been a very cool idea indeed to borrow someone from DC or Marvel though.

This may have been in the works, since Valiant did do deals with Dark Horse (Nexus/Magnus, Predator/Magnus) and Image (Deathmate).

Did anyone catch this actually happened over @ DC Comics a few months ago?

Superman disappears and to fill the void, Mr. Majestik of Wildstorm Comic universe appears and starts being the 'Superman' for a few issues (I believe for 4).

Anyway, DC promoted him as 'The Strange Visitor from Another World' :o [[A tag-line used to label Superman in the early days]]
His appearance in the DC universe, and supposedly in continuity was such a 'hit'. DC is planning a DC Comics mini-series about Majestik in the DCU.

I was glad it was a Valiant character, not exactly 'thrilled' who it was!

What if the Visitor was TORQUE

Didn't the Harbinger Foundation 'take' his body, before Pete & Co re-captured his body :?:

Image if it was, that would be why he had to smash up The Harbinger

Pete was always planned to be The Visitor. I came about the idea by working backwards. Where did he go when RAI 0 said he disappeared?

I remember that I had a contest on my newsletter about the Visitor. Actually, it wasn't to guess who he was, but instead, I picked an obscure character from each of the comic titles, and the contest was to see who could write the best "origin" of the Visitor using one of those characters.

The winner actually wrote an origin story for EACH of the characters.

The characters were things like
Maniac from HARD Corp
Neville from Eternal Warrior
etc.

RE: How many standups made?

No idea on how many were made. I used to have two of them. Both were destroyed by flooding.

There was an Armorines Standee, too, if I remember right.

I've been meaning to compliment you on your website! Very Good, indeed!

Did you ever get one of the Bloodshot vs Bloodshot limited to 50 signed prints from Joe Petrilak?
Or any of Joe's online set of Bloodshot cards?

Best regards---Steve G
Thanks for kind words, Steve. I appreciate them.

I got Print #1 from Joe and now own the original artwork. It's in the "Commissions and Sketches" area under "Original Art."

I had saved all of Joe's online cards and he'd sent me some hard copy something or other. My hard drive crashed and I lost the .jpgs. The promo card is around here somewhere. Probably in my promos collection, eh?

That Steven Butler Bloodshot-cubed piece is one of my faves. He's an amazing artist, to be sure. The uncolored inks are also in "Commissions and Sketches." One of these days I need to try to update it again. It's been a while.
