XO 6 Zircher variant

Midtown had a bunch of the XO 6 character design covers on the shelf today for cover price (too bad they all had a mid-spine bend that basically takes them all out of uber high grade territory), but I bought one anyway. The Zirchers are behind the counter still with $50 (or was it $60) price tag.

I believe it's $60 in store, $51 online.

Not that I'd be buying it at either price.

I paid attention to the X-O #6 issues at my LCS (Dallas, Tx) last week. They still had four regular covers on the shelf, three Zircher covers, all at cover price.

Bla the whole thing has put a bad taste in my mouth. No word from Valiant. My comic shop told me if the CD copy comes he would be suprised. I asked if I should try to acquire a copy on ebay he said I probebly should.
Im going to pay 9.99 and shipping for a book I was suposto get here walking distance from my work.
I want to inform everyone I bought 5 copies of xo #9 from one comic shop and 5 from another. For them to put in other peoples subscription boxes in the hopes it will interest more followers.
I did this in the hopes of getting a gold issue from valiant.
I would also love some people in my town to like the books enough to order enough to get variants.

I'm going to guess you're going to have to document that in some way to earn that gold. Also, not sure whether they'd reserve golds for unique ways of promotion (people here have already done that – see the Valiant Free-View threads).

This cracks me up. I cant believe i didnt see this before as Mayhem is one of LCS's. They sold me a zircher for $25 and told me they decided to give me deal (that one and only time). They also told me they got shorted on the CD cover, but never mentioned hey got a ton of zirchers. Rediculous

Were the release numbers posted for this book? Is there a concensus in regards to how many books VEI is printing of the variants? I wonder if the total print was sent out by mistake? So for example, if VEI printed 1k of these books then maybe the full 1k was sent out by mistake.

According to Dinesh, the 1:50 Zircher covers are 1:50 line wide variants. Even if they are selling for cover price, these books are still more limited than the other two covers, which is more valuable.

If you can find them for cover, take it. Not sure about print runs. Should be more than 1000 printed

Looking at Valaints sales/printings for that month there should be 1200. And I could see Valiant printing another 300 extra for cons and whatever.

Summer of Valiant #1 issue TPB.

I may be mistaken but I thought I read somewhere that it was confirmed 1000 printed for the Summer of Valiant TPB. Was that bad info Elveen (since you hold infinite nanny boo boo cred right now)?

Ha, my cred is nada. I have just spent sometime with those dude, that's all.

I don't know if the print run number was stated at 1,000. But Dino did tell me that he had everything printed at at least 1K.

But I also gathered/interpreted/understood that they always print extra for loss/damage/promo/give outs.....

I think whenever some one gives a print run, that is a "round about" number.

It's true all Valiant books are "at least 1,000"... and those are exactly 1,000.

I agree there usually is overprinting for damage, but since those three books are being sold in-person at cons, damages just become unsold/discarded/giveaway books, not something that must be replaced.
No distributor and no ordering creates a scenario where no overage is required.

For that reason, I believe the VEI guys when they say there are exactly 1,000 of those particular con exclusives.
Additionally, the physical construction of those books is expensive.

The con exclusive preview books are a different story... probably in the 5,000 to 10,000 range.

I'm going to guess a lot more on the previews. Since they're essentially advertising, and they want to get them out there, I'm going to assume they're the most abundant of any of the Valiant books.

Yes, nothing under 1000 copies. It would be interesting to know if there is any book printed with less than 1000 copies. There isn't a single book yet as far as I know.

Dunno if anyone still cares about this, but at my regular LCS there were still 4 of the regular cover copies, 3 of the Zirchers.

I also went to a smaller LCS, they had 1 regular & 1 Zircher (I picked up a copy of their Zircher cover since it was in perfect condition).

Are the Zircher's really 1 in 50 variants? Seems hard to believe - my LCS only has 5 issues of XO 6 and three of 'em are Zircher variants.

Maybe we should take a census of this variant? I bet this board could account for at least 100 of them..I have 2...
