Can anyone educate me on shipping packages. What would you expect to pay to ship a box with 30 comics? I know Hawkeyeps said shipping would only be ~$10 for 10 issues. Based on my experience in shipping 1 comic I normally pay $4-$5.

Based on my experience with shipping all the New York Comic Con TPBs, I'd say that 30 comics would probably fit in a medium flat rate box, which you could ship anywhere within the U.S. for about $11. (This is shipping cost only, and does not include money for supplies or the time involved.

I'd be point man if we can get a group in or around NYC to go in for a box. (Maybe have a Valiant meetup some weekend to distribute.)

I'd like to participate, not sure if it makes more sense for me to go with KJJ (since I'm close to NY) or Hawkeyeps.

But I'll toss this into the mix: I still have a bunch of the NYCC Freeviews and I'd be happy to include a few with anyone that subsequently splits my allotment. I'd be willing to pony up $40 for the endeavor.

To make this happen we need 10 people to do what hawkeyeps is doing. It looks like we have 9 people interested so far in subsidizing his case (maybe more now as this took forever to type). It looks like kjjohanson is putting in another $240 to be point man for NYC. Setting this up geographically makes the most sense and could save a lot on shipping. That leaves 8 more groups. I'm willing, but only if I can get a total of 6 in my group ($40 + shipping). (5 in addition to myself.)

Greg, could you keep the top post updated with the point people (those willing to front the money) and where they are located, as well as a list of interested "investors" who would pay to have them shipped to them or meet for pick up? Also, everyone include city and state. Maybe maximum investment amount as well?

It's essentially $2400 split however + shipping. If we get 60 people, then that would be $40 each + shipping.

If anyone is willing to take a smaller group than 6, then we'll need less people, but that person will be taking a bigger financial hit (as will the members of that group).

Let's make this happen!

I'm in the Memphis, TN area and willing to send $240 to Greg if 5 people send me $40 before the deadline (and whatever actual shipping costs are after I figure those amounts - I can wait to get that money once the books are shipped to me). If we end up with more people or others willing to take an entire case themselves we can adjust each person's contribution.

This will also work the best, and fairest, if we wait to send payments after we have finalized who's interested and who's in each group. Let's make Saturday 5pm CST the deadline for this. That leaves time for money to be exchanged before it is ultimately sent to Greg. Anyone who wants in after that will have to work it out with one of the groups separately, or just pay Greg $240 for another case.

If Greg qualifies for the 10 case minimum (3,000 books), I can do this deal to help out board members who are interested in this book without having to buy an entire case.

Its probably not smart, but I am gonna take on Greg's offer to collect $ and get a case to distribute.

1. I worked out the numbers and this is what I have to do. AGAIN: I am not making any $ on these books (The prices I have listed is my REAL cost) I just want to help out a few VF Fan members to acquire these books at a discounted price who do not have access to them.

2. These books will come out in May 2013, and your books will ship right after I receive them which is usually one (1) week after its released since I need time to get these from Greg. The problem is what if I get 29 separate orders for this deal and I need to bag/board all 300 books. So please give me some reasonable amount of time to get it done. I can work very fast, but, but it takes time to bag/board/tape/sandwich/pack and move 300 books. Plus I need to make sure everyone gets their orders correct with your mailing information.

3. Each member has no limit until I sell all 29 packs of 10 books. That being said, the maximum orders I am accepting is 29 individual packs as I am only ordering a single case from Greg. I need to at least keep atleast 10 books for myself right? When I sell out, I will "wait list" a few members just in case there anyone that backs out of this deal. (which usually does not happen)

4. All the books will be delivered in the same condition I get these in. If anyone has any questions of how I ship my books, a few board members have purchased books from me and some say that they have never had a comic shipped so well. I will also try to be fair with how I distribute these books. Please do not expect to receive all Gem Mint copies because books do get damaged when they go from one place to another.

5. For international orders, please PM me and I can give you an estimate of the shipping costs. (since I am not making any $ on these books, I need to charge a little more to cover the Paypal fees plus the time it takes to pack and ship these more securely.)

Is 10 your minimum group size? The smaller the groups, the better our chances of getting enough to get this ordered by the deadline. Smaller groups means a bigger financial commitment, so the minimum size determines your maximum financial contributions. This is why I suggested drmirage be the only large group, small commitment group. If we have lots of board members forming big groups we won't have enough point men (or women) to get to 3000, which is the minimum.

Let's designate you as the Canadian guy, and you can have as many kooky Canucks as want in on this. You can have others as well, but let's put all the Canadian members with you, unless we get another Canadian point man.

We need more point people! Six more. When you do it the way I plan on doing this (if we get enough people) then you don't have to have $240 to be a point person. I plan on gathering $40 from 5 people (5 x 40 = $200). They send me the money, I add my $40 to that and send it to Greg. I'm only fronting $40. I get the books and have the responsibility of packing and shipping/meeting people with books and collecting shipping costs from those in my group. If we get more people, then we can make each group larger, thereby reducing cost.

Keep in mind, smaller groups means bigger financial commitment - both up front and shipping. If I only have a total of 6 sharing my group of 300 that's $40 plus shipping costs for 50 books each. I guess those in my group who want lower shipping could opt to actually get less books to save on shipping, but then the per book cost would increase - but that would be decided among my group.

The key is to get 10 people who are willing to coordinate the money and shipping. We have 4, need 6 more. Then as backers are interested we divvy up according to geography and how much each is willing to pay.

Ok I'm back on the horse here today, this will be a huge effort but I am down for it.

Greg says he can get the box to me by UPS and it will be $80 via UPS, so that puts the total at $320/300.

That works out to $1.07/book. I don't want to scare the hell out of anybody (other than me) so I think the best way to go is to sell these in blocks of 10 for $10.70.

This way we can nail the numbers down a little better and nobody will be stuck with a ton of these other than possibly me (hope not ).

Phantom and the UK crew- we have very little time to throw this together if you guys want some blocks of ten it would be great if you could get them from me as I've set myself up as international guy. If the UK had a point guy I could send all the UK books to that person and they can distribute in the UK.

I think we can get enough of us to commit to at least $10.70 to make a go of this, it's more risk for me but I think it will work better.

I'll ship to all the Canadians and also ship ShadowTuga's books to Portugal, I will take some time today and try to nail down the best unit cost for shipping 10 books aound Canada. Nonplayer had an idea about shipping via bus (greyhound) I will check that out as well as other methods and post the results here. I will try to come up with a cost for Canada, UK and Portugal for 10 books shipped.

I will go back over my pms and put up a list of guys who expressed interest and post it back here then they can tell me how many they want in chunks of ten (10,20,30 etc.). The more you can take the better

I will then post a running list of who wants what, we have to really boogie to get this together Bros so don't be shy and jump on it
