WTB - Pre-unity slabs - Closed
Thanks for all who responded. I've gotten most of the books I needed. While I still need more I'm in the process of initiating a military move and won't be able to buy for a while. I'll update this post once I'm settled in my new home and I'm buying again.

Depends on the book. A Harbinger 0 Pink would be acceptable to me lower than 9.8, while an Solar 11 probably won't.greg wrote:9.8 minimum, or are you ok with lower?

Re: WTB - Pre-unity graded books - list inside
Strange, but I think that SOLAR 11 9.8 is one of the lowest listed. Something about the printing caused a defect on nearly all of them. A 9.6 of this book is probably nearly as rare as a 9.8 of nearly any other.Intrepidxc wrote:Depends on the book. Re: WTB - Pre-unity graded books - list inside
I was under the impression that SOLAR 11 has just as many successful print runs as SOLAR 1 (~ 85,000). Haven't heard about a printing defect, but if that's the case I would entertain 9.6s on SOLAR 11.kevinbastos wrote:Strange, but I think that SOLAR 11 9.8 is one of the lowest listed. Check out Greg's page for each comic.
Magnus 11 has only 17 CGC 9.8. One of the lowest.
For comparison, Magnus 10 has 58 9.8.
Magnus 12 (certainly an anomaly) has over 100.
Currently, one has bids over $30 on ebay.

Looking up, it looks like 13 was the one with the most problems.

I am bidding on that Magnus 11, now it's at 60+, guess others know it's value as well.kevinbastos wrote:Check out Greg's page for each comic.

Didn't get the Magnus 11 on ebay. Bidding went sky high. On the plus side, I've picked up a copy of A&A 0 and updated my WTB list to reflect my recent acquisitions.

Re: WTB - Pre-unity slabs - list inside
I spoke with this seller last week before pulling the trigger on Magnus 13 and was shocked to read he had 2nd copy of it. It is on the auction block right now, too. This is the same seller who sold the CGC 9.9 Rai 0. He apparently does a good job of obtaining high grade Valiant issues.greg wrote:There are two more CGC 9.8 Magnus 11 on ebay now.

The census jumped from 15 to 23 copies of CGC 9.8 Magnus #11 two weeks ago.iggy101us wrote:Another copy listed. 3 total now on eBay.greg wrote:There are two more CGC 9.8 Magnus 11 on ebay now.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/370817781843" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
So... I'd say there are 8 of these.

CGC 9.8 Magnus #13 went from 11 to 13, so the two (one current, one last week) are probably the only ones.
That said, you can never predict when another batch of CGC books will reach the market.
The CGC census seems to be two or three weeks behind the grading dates.

The prices will slowly start to plummet. I will be the first and last person to pay $250 for Magnus 13. I actually overpaid for several Pre-Unity issues - Magnus 11 & 13 and Harbinger 5 & 6. I can live with it. The other issues I obtained were around the going rates at the time. I know I'm not alone. We have all overpaid for something. C'est la vie.

I have overpaid for soo many Valiant slabs I lost track. I bought my A&A #0 gold right before someone submitted 8-10 9.8's. Needless to say I overpaid for mine. I think we can all agree it happens and it's all part of collecting.greatbrandino11 wrote:I overpaid for Magnus 11, too.greg wrote:Magnus #13 at $250 won't plummet as fast as Magnus #11 at $165.greatbrandino11 wrote:The prices will slowly start to plummet.
