Yeah, I can't ever remember him doing anything with the "shells" along his arm. The only time we saw him use anything from the arm was when he teamed up with Bloodshot to take on a drug cartel in South America. As I recall, he referred to it as "thirty feet of retractable steel" and the shell look was replaced with a small casing that ran down the length of his arm.

I definitely was/am not a fan of this look for Gilad. Silly & cheesy, all rolled into one. I like the concept of the sleeve as a decoration, a representation of & a means to stay connected with the era he is living in. No need for any functionality, IMO, its just a cool facet of his character.
I cant disagree more with the "no need for any functionality." if they didnt have any function, they're no better than the excessive pockets drawn on characters by Rob Liefeld. They do indeed look cool and distinguished EW, but at least have some symbolic meaning behind them.

addendum: anyways, I love the idea of EW and think he has a lot of potential, but ive never read a EW comic. I just think he would be cooler if he didnt play superhero, putting things on bc they looked cool. just my 2 cents

Love the second cover, hopefully it's the pullbox variant.

While I am super excited for all these announcements this week, did anyone else notice that they didn't make any announcements for Harbinger? I wonder why?

Or Shadowman or A&A.

Well, to be fair, Shadowman and A&A as solicited are still in the middle of their current arcs. Harbinger, however, we have no idea what the coming issues will be about beyond Harbinger Wars

By that token Gilad should probably shave his head (or at least get a crew cut) and should only were gray clothes. Can't have any decoration that isn't functional after all... :D

Kidding aside, again i will point out that the arm decoration was a reference to his tribal armor. Keep in mind he is a 5,000 year old warrior. Fighters/soldiers have been adding non-functional decoration to their "uniforms" forever. I really don't see anything Liefield-ish about it, but that is JMHO. In fact as mentioned, the only time they made it functinal was when it looked the most silly and unrealistic.

I have to agree. It was an interesting look but I was always waiting to see if he ever did anything with them. Not a big deal, I suppose. I mean Superman doesn't really need a cape, now does he?

Actually, Shadowmans current arc ends in July along with Harbinger, so we don't have an idea for either where they are going yet.

If anything, I would have thought we'd get something regarding the Shadowman art team going forward.

Either way, August solicits should be out this week (I think).

Did I miss it, or was there no mention of something new for Ninjak last week, other than the ad in the FCBD?

Maybe this will become a VEI FCBD tradition? One teaser with a date that is not going to be true - such as Rai Spring 2013 :poke:

Well, isn't Eternal Warrior gonna only be in XO #15 & 16? And isn't the next arc a 4-part arc? So it stands to reason Ninjak could appear again in XO #17 & 18.

Never thought I'd say this before XO 5-8 came out, but I'd love to see Ninjak back in XO at the very least.
