Favorite Comic Book Quotes

Post by Bone-A-Fach-ee »

Last night my wife asked me what my favorite comic book quote is. Caught off guard, the first thing that came to mind is:
"It's Clobberin' Time!" Then of course, "Hulk Smash".
After that, the conversation was over, but I kept thinking about them, and came up with a few more.
"With great power, comes great responsibility"
"I'm the best there is at what I do"
"Great Cesar's Ghost!"
"Oh my stars and garters"

Anyone care to add anything else here? I'd be curious to see what else there is?
"Nothing beats a bud!"

"Avengers Assemble!"

"No more mutants"

I always remember from Infinity Gauntlet #6: "Let there be... DISHARMONY!!"

"Feel my POWER!"

Also, unfortunately, the following comes to mind. It is not safe for life (NSFL), and contains a NSFW word in the (small) word balloon:

I'll have to give this a thought...

Until then, one of my favorite quotes from any media is from Rocky IV: Drago looks at Rocky and says, "I vill break you." It's what mentally plays in my head when I'm dealing with any jerk that is giving me grief. I'm currently thinking this over and over recently as per my discussion in the I Work for Vogons thread I started.

Megatron: "Why him? Why Starscream? They all asked me that, why out of all of the Decepticons to reactive I reactivated the one who treachery is legendary? Because I'm idiot that is why!"

Optimus Prime: "While I'm tempted to record that last part for prosperity we have more pressing concerns like staying alive!"

From The Transformers: Generation 2 #6 (at least I think it's #6 I can't remember issues very well.)

For my actual favorite quote, for some reason the one that keeps coming to mind isn't even from a comic book, it's from The Dark Knight, and not actually from the movie. It's a line that was in the script but got cut out of the movie for some reason or other. I thought it really summed up quite a bit about Batman and why he doesn't kill, and I always thought it was pretty chilling when I read it.

So if you have seen the movie it's from the ending scene. I guess either Jonathan or Christopher Nolan gets the credit for this, since it's from the screenplay? Anyway:
Dent: ...And the only morality in a cruel world is chance. Unbiased. Unprejudiced. Fair.

Batman: Nothing fair ever came out of the barrel of a gun, Harvey.
I will try to think of my favorite comic book quote but this is a good place holder.

Heard joke once: Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says, "Treatment is simple. Great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up." Man bursts into tears. Says, "But doctor...I am Pagliacci.

See, there were these two guys in a lunatic asylum…and one night, one night they decide they don’t like living in an asylum any more. They decide they’re going to escape! So, like, they get up onto the roof, and there, just across the narrow gap, they see the rooftops of the town, stretching away in the moonlight…Now, the first guy, he jumps right across with no problem. But his friend, his friend daredn’t make the leap. Y’see…y’see, he’s afraid of falling. So then, the first guy has an idea…He says “Hey! I have my flashlight with me! I’ll shine it across the gap between the buildings. You can walk along the beam and join me!” B-but the second guy just shakes his head. He suh-says…He says “wh-what do you think I am? CRAZY? You’d turn it off when I was half way across!”

This one isn't from the comic book, it's from Batman the Brave and the Bold cartoon. After they stop the Music Meister's musical of crime (really  ) Black Canary asks Batman out to dinner (this is after she spends about half the episode singing about Batman) His reply:

"I'm sorry but, crime doesn't take dinner breaks, and neither do I."

Then he fires his grappling hook and swings away.
