Harbinger Wars: Battle for Las Vegas

Post by tchalla8 »

Is anyone still playing this game?

Also, has anyone noticed after all the huge build up and publicity upon release that VEI has dropped off the the face of the earth about the next stages of the game? After an initial responsive presence they haven't answered a single question on the Harbinger Wars: Battle for Las Vegas Facebook page since early May.

I haven't had a chance to get on our tablet lately. Has the next level(s) for it become available yet? Do you have to complete the 'Peter' levels before any others are available?

No new updates. I completed both levels in the first week and that was all there was. It gets boring after that.

I've been really enjoying it. Playing it on the iPhone adds an extra level of challenge.

I think they said new levels will become available in early June.

I still haven't been able to play it. My phone supposedly supports it, but there's some bogus hardware issue that no one on either end seems to know how to fix.

I wish it would play on my phone. I should steal my wife's and see if it works.

Like most phone games, this one quickly lost my interest. Not that Valiant didn't put out a great effort but, after the first 2 levels, you are kind of done.

The annoying thing is that when I first downloaded it, it played fine. Sure, it was a little glitchy, but it was a lot of fun to play. Then they had updates, and it hasn't loaded properly since those. Oh well.

I just got an iPhone yesterday and this was the first thing I downloaded. It runs slow as *SQUEE* in a snowstorm. Let down.

I'm still enjoying banging around on it. It's a long wait in between to get new levels, but I'm sure some excitement will get stirred up again next week(ish) with a new issue of Harbinger Wars & new levels at last.

I have it on my iPhone and have had no issues with slow loading/running.

The app was updated today. No new levels, but you can now purchase weapon upgrades, and there's a leaderboard now.

I was just thinking about this game the other day - its a shame there has been no new add-on levels.

My guess is they aren't getting as much revenue from in-app purchases to justify developing the new levels. You really can't blame them. Keep in mind this is just a licensed game produced by a small indie game studio. They probably have several projects that are all struggling that they are juggling right now.

I know exactly what you mean, Dunlow - a good friend of mine works at one such studio called Big Blue Bubble. He visually designed games such as Burn The Rope, Thumpies, Fling-A-Thing, & My Singing Monsters. Two of those games hit over a million downloads, the other two went virtually unnoticed. The studio also has several other games they've spent time & money developing to varying degrees of success. It's a competitive market even at $1 a game or free, & difficult to get noticed in the ocean of game apps available.

I'd like to see more levels added to the HW game, but totally understand if they don't.

Once I saw gameplay videos of it I saw it was basically just a promotional gimmick. It had no real polish to it, nor did they seem to have any idea what they wanted to do with it--it looked like Contra, but then enemies took twenty hits and there were RPG elements. Also the jumping looked terrible, with way too much hangtime, ala Mario.

Of course, it was free. But again, just a little promotional gimmick--they could have just made a flash game to achieve the same effect, really.

The enemy took 4 hits now more. Id like to see another free level. Takes a crazy amount of time to collect the 3000 coins. Gave up! I play it every now and again.

Just downloaded it last week to my sons computer.
Not a gamer at all and never have been. Must of played it 4 or five times.
I like it as it's quick and achievable, and you don't have to think.
It fun and simple, finished first stage
Have to watch out for the lifts coming down, killed me more than once on the second level
I wish their was a Spinal Tap comic, and I had a copy CGC graded at 11.

I was out of Candy Crush lives so I figured I've give harbinger Wars another go. Come to find out it had deleted itself from my tablet, response when clicking icon was "program not downloaded." No idea what happened, I've never erased it. Oh well, I stole my GFs phone and went back to Candy Crush...

The game didn't even start on my phone, but TBH I didn't care much because I wasn't expecting it to be good anyways. I dunno, I've just never found a smartphone game that's been able to keep me entertained for more than 15 minutes.
