I was gonna go snatch both of these up but they are the second prints. I'm surprised they are selling for that, but if someone doesn't look at the description, they may miss that if they don't know what they are looking at.StarBrand wrote:Detective Comics 871 is the first Scott Snyder Batman story. Not that it's any secret, but it bears mentioning in this thread. This seller's moving them at 10 bucks a pop.

Good eye. I'm used to sellers denoting 2nd print in the title. My bad.nutflush76 wrote:I was gonna go snatch both of these up but they are the second prints. Re: Discuss Hard To Find Or Currently Hot Modern Comics
Back before the days of eBay, Thanos Quest 1 and 2 were books that I wanted so badly and could never find in the handful of comic shops I got to visit. Almost grail books. Infinity Gauntlet was the first TPB I ever bought and I was (and still am) a devoted Thanos fan. When I finally picked them up, I was not disappointed, even after nearly 10 years of looking for them.cjv wrote:I liked the Infinity Gauntlet lead up - Thanos Quest I think it was called.

You must be looking forward to Infinity #1, set for a July release.Chiclo wrote:Back before the days of eBay, Thanos Quest 1 and 2 were books that I wanted so badly and could never find in the handful of comic shops I got to visit. Yes and no.StarBrand wrote:You must be looking forward to Infinity #1, set for a July release.
For over 20 years, Thanos has been my favourite comic character out of all of them ever. Ahead of Grendel, Gilad and Nexus. When Thanos appeared in the Avengers movie, I was ecstatic. Now, it seems like the character is diluted. They put him in anything just to cash in on the Avengers movie fervor.
I like Jonathan Hickman. My wife introduced me to his works when we got married. We eagerly added Fantastic Four to our pull list when he was announced as taking over the book. I have always enjoyed Hickman books except they always make me feel like I missed an issue, even if we are starting with issue 1. I don't know how that will translate to a big event book?

Infinity Gauntlet got me back into comics when it came out. I loved the art and couldn't believe how many heroes were crammed into it!
How are those Thief of Thieves early issues doing?

I loved that series back in the day. I was nothing but a DC guy up until that point, but the guy at my LCS convinced me to pick it up, it totally expanded my comic book world!dave wrote:Infinity Gauntlet got me back into comics when it came out. There has not been much action in this topic for a while but "Todd the Ugliest kid on Earth" #1 is blowing up right now since a cartoon has been ordered for the series and will be created by Titmouse Studio (Venture Bros.)
I would assume that issues 2 -5 will be of interest as well and maybe the second print of #1 too.

I read the first arc and It was kinda meh. Although it has been picking up steam lately due to the fact that it was announced at SDCC that it has been picked up by NBC.nonplayer wrote:Anyone reading Clone. I notice it due to its paper quality..

Not sure how much of an investment it will be though if the show is anything like the book. It had an interesting premise, but it just seemed to drag for me.

I think it's the best of the new DC lineup. I started out reading them all and slowly widdled down to just Batman. It's a great read and excellent art. I slabbed several of the early issues with signature series. Both Snyder and Capullo will be at WW in Chicago this weekend.StarBrand wrote:This might end up being a new modern key, or maybe a book associated with the beginning of a new age of comics.buff-beardo wrote:Batman #1 at $70.00.Must be tons of demand or, more likely, speculators. Read a few obscure titles lately, 2 guns and number crunchers. The latter was very unique.
Re: Discuss Hard To Find Or Currently Hot Modern Comics
The first four issues of the current Scarlet Spider are around 10-20.00 each.

I got them both when the LCS I was going to at the time had a 50% sale on all back issues and picked them up for $17 together and this was the height of the spectulator bubble.Chiclo wrote:Back before the days of eBay, Thanos Quest 1 and 2 were books that I wanted so badly and could never find in the handful of comic shops I got to visit. Even the owner admitted I got a deal.

The Thanos Quest is a very good story and a somewhat under-rated and feels at times as if it's a forgotten story. Which is a shame. Starlin shows Thanos outsmarting the previous holders of the Infinity Gems and how Thanos masters their power and with an ending that is a real twist but doesn't come out of left field, and it's a complete story. You get a beginning, middle, and ending, and it doesn't feel a like a prequal to Infinity Gauntlet and yet sets up it perfectly. Starlin's panited covers are some the best artwork of his career and the series features Ron Lim's best artwork of his career. Mixing equal doses of Starlin and Perez with his own style.

Re: Discuss Hard To Find Or Currently Hot Modern Comics
Met Chris Claremont so that was a treat. Dragged in my Uncanny X-Men Omnibus for a signature which gave him a good laugh. Also met Esad Ribic and had him sign some books including XO #1 as well as a sketch of an Uncanny X-Force blank which Remender had sketched on.
Snyder and Capullo were in a panel that I missed.
I was there an Sat. and not for long. Lots of celebs which I wasn't interested in. C2E2 is much more of a comic event.

i went to that panel the last 15-20 minutes they had an interesting concept of Gotham being a character itself that shapes batman prettys crazy. lol
Agreed everybody we talked to there was like c2e2 merch was like ten times better. this seemed more for the celebs.
i bought a 4 day pass and attend each day parking was a pain 13$ a day but i split it with 1 friend but still.
