After Unity have to start dropping titles
I realize that with the addition of EW and Unity I'll have to start dropping a title for every new one they release (if I want to add the new one). It sucks because i liked being able to read almost every title in the Valiant line. But it's inevitable that I'll finally have to start compromising.
Anyone else getting to their limit here with these Valiant books?

Other company's titles will drop from my reading list before i start dropping Valiant. That's just the way I'm gonna roll.CallMeBloodshot wrote:I realize that with the addition of EW and Unity I'll have to start dropping a title for every new one they release (if I want to add the new one). Re: After Unity have to start dropping titles
My limitation are based mostly around what I have time to keep up with, and what is worth reading. While I don't quite have time to read everything that I'm buying at the moment, I'd continue to pick up new Valiant titles if the quality is high.CallMeBloodshot wrote:I realize that with the addition of EW and Unity I'll have to start dropping a title for every new one they release (if I want to add the new one). Re: After Unity have to start dropping titles
Don't get me wrong, I love Valiant and they make up the majority of my pull list, but there's other characters I just won't compromise. I like Marvel too, and I like to keep some variety.tchalla8 wrote:Other company's titles will drop from my reading list before i start dropping Valiant. I guess a more interesting thread would be what title you would drop if you had to? Mine, right now would probably be EW.

If you held a gun to my head...Shadowman...although the curiosity about the new creative team would probably be torture.CallMeBloodshot wrote:Don't get me wrong, I love Valiant and they make up the majority of my pull list, but there's other characters I just won't compromise. Quantum & Woody. And I probably will after the first arc. It's missing the qualities that made the original a cult classic.CallMeBloodshot wrote:I guess a more interesting thread would be what title you would drop if you had to? Mine, right now would probably be EW.

It will be sometime before I am not able to get all their books. I did stop getting the pullbox issues though so for me 16 titles is the same as 8 regular and 8 pullbox issues.

You not tempted to pick it back up from #13? I am going to give Shadowman a fresh try as the new team sound promising.caniac wrote:I've already dropped Shadowman...more is to come I think...

There's no way I'm dropping Shadowman after what I've heard and seen about #13.
It's went from the worst title I'm getting to my most anticipated.

Re: After Unity have to start dropping titles
I figure that I am making up for lost time over the last twelve or thirteen years. So I am not ashamed to still be buying crazy. I will probably have a few misses in my wake, but my compulsions will keep me looking. And reading.

If I were going to drop Valiant titles, it would definitely be Bloodshot and Shadowman. But then Sean would keep bugging me about it.

Re: After Unity have to start dropping titles
I would be dropping every other company before I started dropping Valiant. But if you had a gun to my head, I would be dropping Shadowman first. Regardless of the new direction/ team. Now, if this conversation were happening AFTER issue 13, who knows, could be a different story?
But no way would I drop EW. Thought the first issue was great, and Gilad is a very central character to all of Valiant. Q&W is just phenominal, can't see dropping that at all! Potentially Bloodshot, but now that HARD Corps is incorporated, and Dysarts on, sounds like a big bowl of WIN to me!

Re: After Unity have to start dropping titles
I'll still be buying all the Valiant titles at least till Summer of Valiant 2014. I can handle 8 titles for sure, especially if I redrop Hickman's Avengers and New Avengers after Infinity. I might max out at around 10 or 12 titles, unless some of them are bad enough to stop just from distaste. And as a measure of how bad something would have to be, I never dropped Shadowman, but I was thinking about it.

Re: After Unity have to start dropping titles
since it looks like it's a financial issue, have you thought about getting them somewhere for less? We offer 20% off all comics to valiantfans members with our online pull service, there are other companies who offer even more discounts (but i don't think have the same individual service, nor are they members of this site). That could be a good way to continue reading. 20% off means you can read 20% more for the same price. One in 5 titles is free.CallMeBloodshot wrote:I realize that with the addition of EW and Unity I'll have to start dropping a title for every new one they release (if I want to add the new one). I would say the same, but with the new creative teams I can't see myself dropping either now for at least another couple of arcs.Chiclo wrote:If I were going to drop Valiant titles, it would definitely be Bloodshot and Shadowman. But then Sean would keep bugging me about it.

Re: After Unity have to start dropping titles
I have been feeding my silver age Marvel addiction for the past year now, I shudder to think what I've spent. That's coming out of the capital account since I can justify the thing holding its value. "It's like tucking a hundred dollar bill into a box for the future..."
As for new books, Valiant is all I've bought until recently (just added Astro City and someone talked me into a mini called Six Gun Gorilla) so it's not too taxing on the weekly operating budget. I've stopped the variant thing for the most part, that's just crazy. I'll make exceptions for #1 issues, though.

Re: After Unity have to start dropping titles
I am pretty much also along the lines that I would drop titles from other publishers before I dropped any Valiant.
This is only because I am really enjoying each title at the moment, except Q & W I don't get that title.
For most of my titles from other publishers, I probably leave them go far too long after I have become bored with them and need to force myself a clean up every now and then. I think titles from the big two would go before the ones I get from Image, IDW and Boom.
Perhaps the reason I really am liking Shadowman against the general consensus here, is that I came in late for that title and read all of them up to #8 in one go. I'm not sure.
But for mine Valiant is Number one.

I've dropped a&a, bloodshot and shadowman, but still pick up an occasional issue off the shelf. I've managed to find almost all the others that missed after dropping them in dollar bins. $4 vs $1 is a no brainer.

Re: After Unity have to start dropping titles
With the new HC collected editions coming out, I am wondering if that will be the best way to collect the stories. The only problem is having to wait a year for each HC to be released. Amazon gives a substantial discount on the TPB's and the new HC's.

Re: After Unity have to start dropping titles
I'm the same way. I dropped the pullbox variants on Harby, X-0 and Shadowman, and added even more titles with that (2 guns, Day Men, Sixth Gun and a few minis). I remember talking to the manager at the shop and said, what's the point of going after these books, I can read three more new titles...he agreed and said the books didn't look that much different anyway. I dropped A&A after issue 9, I just could not get into it....FormerReader wrote:It will be sometime before I am not able to get all their books.
