Joker's Daughter
Sorry, I know we had a thread related to this, but wanted to get some fresh eyes on it. A couple of questions:
If I were to get a copy of Joker's Daughter 23.1,or whatever, should I get it signed by the artist? He's going to be there.... does this add, or decrease value in a case like this?
Also, just picked up two copies of Catwoman 23, Joker's Daughter's first appearance. Think they'll be worth something?
Thanks!

I would not get them signed unless you are going to get them CGC witnessed.

Re: Joker's Daughter
So, if I did get my hands on one, would you recommend trying to flip it on ebay ASAP, or holding onto it for the long haul? Right now, they're going for around $40 on ebay. Think that will increase, or decrease with time? All other 3d covers are back to like cover price at the moment. But I guess it could be argued that this is her first cover?
Any insight that you as a retailer might know that I wouldn't?
Also, thoughts on Catwoman #23? Her first appearance?

Catwoman #23 is her 1st app.
If I had one, I'll put in on my wall and try to sell it. I think you are a bit low on the going rate for this book right now.
the last 4 of these that have sold today on ebay are: $90, $81, $69, $71

Re: Joker's Daughter
Sweet! Definitely going to try for the quick flip if I get my hands on one!
But about Catwoman 23, I know it's not as high a price, but do you think it will be a good book to have in the future?

No one is paying that price, I can buy one now for 17 dollars so I am not sure why people believe its going for outrageous amounts of money when its not. Of course the shipping is as much as the comic and still half the price, and thats just one guy selling.Elveen wrote:Bone-A-Fach-ee wrote:So, if I did get my hands on one, would you recommend trying to flip it on ebay ASAP, or holding onto it for the long haul? Re: Joker's Daughter
Ok, this is what i have to say about Jokers Daughter, the comic isnt even out and if people are stupid enough to pay top dollar for a book that is mass produced(granted lots of people want it) then best of luck to them. I have 2 on order and I wont say positively but i will probably end up with 3 and why? cause its not hard to get, its only hard to get when youre comic store holds them back to sell on a secondary market. 1 store here has all of the 3d titles, 8 -15 dollars a peice, you go down to shop 2, they have all the 3d covers except for harley quinn(but they had it up til friday of the week it came out) all for cover price. Another thing, this isnt the first full appearance of the jokers daughter because the jokers daughter was created over 30 years ago, its like saying the first appearance of Master Darque is in the new Valiant, no its not, he made his first appearace in the 90's Valiant. And please don't use the excuse, this isnt the same Jokers Daughter, cause really....c'mon

Re: Joker's Daughter
Just miscommunication. The high numbers were all in regards to Joker's Daughter 3D cover on ebay.
But I was just curious about the importance/ value of Catwoman 23 as well, in addition to the 3D cover.
Oh, and I just saw one of the 3D covers go for $44, so thats a rapid drop from the $70-$80 range. gonna keep an eye on this closer to wednesday's release date though...

To me, B-a-fee and I were clearly talking about the Joker's daughter 3-D book and the Cat 23 was the "also".Bone-A-Fach-ee wrote:So, if I did get my hands on one, would you recommend trying to flip it on ebay ASAP, or holding onto it for the long haul? If you can get 3 of them, please make a bit of cash off me and sell me one (or 2, I'm FOR SURE a buyer)
For whatever reason, the "industry" has decided this is the "1st appearance" of Joker's daughter.LABRADORIAN wrote:Another thing, this isnt the first full appearance of the jokers daughter because the jokers daughter was created over 30 years ago, its like saying the first appearance of Master Darque is in the new Valiant, no its not, he made his first appearace in the 90's Valiant. One of the things I always say when I'm at shows is.... "I don't set the market, I just reflect it". The comic book industry (all the people involved) have decided that Cat #23 is the "1st app. of Joker's daughter". I did not decide it, I'm just reflecting what the "industry" has decided.
When I am set up as a vendor at the Las Vegas Comic Expo next weekend, and someone asks me if I have the 1st app of Joker's daughter, I know they are looking for Cat #23. Every dealer and patron in the convention will also be thinking about Cat #23 as the 1st Jokers daughter.
I'm not saying that it SHOULD be called that, but that IS what it is called.

Re: Joker's Daughter
absolutely, I reread the last post and thats where it all broke down, more my fault then anyone elses, I just read it as outrageous amounts for catwoman(which i just picked up for cover price in one of the LCS), when its actually jokers daughter, which is priced outrageously. I hope people realize its stores putting their copies on ebay and selling them before they come out not joe schmoe off the street because joe schmoe cant gaurantee he will get his copies, store can.

Re: Joker's Daughter
I also understand what you are saying about what the market wants to call it, but still it makes little sense, but lately the secondary prices for some of the New 52 comics has been just ridiculous, I don't understand it but from a sellers point of view(not me) its FANTASTIC to see something of DC have some value.

DC 52 has been puzzling to say the least on the back issue market.
The one thing I can say that is VERY positive is, that most the peeps buying NEW 52 from me are readers. Most people are filling in runs. So that is good.

So shouldn't Catwoman 23 be selling for a lot more then the not-released yet Jokers Daughter?

I've been told this book has been way under allocated.
But I have no idea.

I went back to the store where I bought a copy and asked if I could buy a couple more, which they allowed and I said that they had about 13 more copies, which the clerk responded that they got their reorder in. To me I am saying ummmmmmmmmm second print? but it isnt.

Going through my collection, I have some Batman Family, lucky me....#6 , first appearance(pre-crisis) of Jokers Daughter. Comic is in hard shape but its part of my collection so I don't really care what its value is.

I think the 2D versions are being used to fill that gap....which makes me wonder if the 2d version will curb upside to the 3d books?LABRADORIAN wrote:I went back to the store where I bought a copy and asked if I could buy a couple more, which they allowed and I said that they had about 13 more copies, which the clerk responded that they got their reorder in. Re: Joker's Daughter
I would say grab your Catwoman 23 while you can. I know at least 2 stores that had their orders "lost" and Diamond told them they could not replace them. That amount to over 120 copies. As for the 3d covers everybody will tell you they were allocated. From my understanding of informal polling it seems to be at about 40 percent of their orders. To be fair there were some HUGE orders so it should not be that hard to get some. Just know the market will get snatched up quickly.
