That amount to over 120 copies. As for the 3d covers everybody will tell you they were allocated. From my understanding of informal polling it seems to be at about 40 percent of their orders. To be fair there were some HUGE orders so it should not be that hard to get some. Just know the market will get snatched up quickly.

I expect both of these books to be in demand on the comic con circuit.

and I don't see myself getting any of the 3-d books. I do have a few Cat #23s (and have already sold a few)

Every store will tell you they have allocations, however there are stores that get allocated and then allocate on top of that. When I walk into the local comic store and the new comics are on the shelf and ALL the new 3d covers are on the bagged and backboarded with a jacked up price on it, thats a store desperate for money in my opinion especially when its ALL OF THE 3D covers for jacked up prices. I asked for 2 of The Joker, when the comic came out I only got 1 because they were allocated, but the store had copies on the shelf for 15 dollars, they can ride that wave all they want, its not the wave they think is.

CBR announced back in August that the villains month 3D covers would be allocated. http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page ... e&id=47175 This makes sense to me, since they are selling them at $3.99 which is the regular price of most books these days. So they don't want to print a TON of 3D books for no extra money. They have 2D versions that will fill the gaps for the people who just want to read the books.

This is pure genius on the part of DC. make 3D covers, get the back issue market in a frenzy over them, and then sell a ton of regular copies that probably wouldn't have otherwise sold except for all the craziness going on over the 3D covers. Say what you want about their editorial decisions as of late, but their marketing department is not missing a beat!

Also, I received this email from DCBS. It seems that they were asking for "volunteers" to accept the regular covers rather than the 3D covers.
DCBS email wrote:Quick summary: DCBS is looking for volunteers to substitute 2D versions for 3D versions of the books listed below.

JUSTICE LEAGUE #23.4 SECRET SOCIETY
WONDER WOMAN #23.2 FIRST BORN
BATMAN THE DARK KNIGHT #23.4 JOKERS DAUGHTER

Details: You are receiving this e-mail if you ordered one or more of the books listed below that are releasing September 25th. DC recently announced to all retailers that they would not be able to completely fill orders for many of the DC Villains Month 3D Motion Covers. After analyzing the information provided by DC we believe that for the week of September 25th, DCBS will not be able to fill all orders for the books listed below. DCBS made this determination by comparing existing orders with information provided by DC. This analysis does not take into consideration any possible damages, shortages or other shipping problems from the distributor which could affect any Villains books scheduled for September 25th release and not just the books below.

JUSTICE LEAGUE #23.4 SECRET SOCIETY
WONDER WOMAN #23.2 FIRST BORN
BATMAN THE DARK KNIGHT #23.4 JOKERS DAUGHTER

In order to fill as many orders as possible, DCBS is currently requesting volunteers who wish to substitute a 2D first printing of one or more of these books. The pricing for the 2D book will be 50% off the cover price of $2.99. That makes the DCBS price $1.49. If you wish to volunteer, please reply to this e-mail as soon as possible and copy this paragraph in your response along with the titles you wish to replace with a substitute 2D cover.

The pricing above only applies for customers wishing to substitute. If you wish to add a 2D book to your order, pricing will be 40% off ($1.79).

DCBS is also requesting volunteers who wish to cancel one or more of these books from their orders. If you wish to volunteer, please reply to this e-mail as soon as possible and copy this paragraph in your response along with the titles you wish to cancel.

Customers that ordered the DCBS bundle of all 52 3D books, may substitute 2D versions of the books above at $1.49 each or cancel one of the books above without affecting the 50% discount on the rest of books in the bundle.

If DCBS does receive enough volunteers, DCBS will fill books as first-ordered, first-filled. Once DCBS runs out of copies of each book, DCBS will notify customers with unfilled copies with the option to receive 2D first printing books at $1.49 each or cancellation.
Lastly, my local shop has only received about half of the 3D covers he ordered. This guy doesn't really deal in back issues, so its not a case of holding them back. (unless he is secretly selling them on ebay). I will be there first thing this week when he opens to see if I can get the Joker's daughter book. I have two copies coming from DCBS but I am on monthly shipping so I won't get my copies until next month. By that time they will probably be back down to cover price.

I still have a standing order on B:TDK so I'm confident that my copy will be a 1st print. If anyone could exp+lain to me why on earth anyone woukld pay this type of money (90 plus dollars) for a book that is not out yet? I ask in all seriousness, I truly don't understand, specially if the people buying these are regular collectors or speculators.
As soon as I get my hands on it, I'll flip it for sure. I cancelled my sub for B:TDK either way- the book has no point in existing. And sucks balls.

I think its just a case of people hear its going to be hard to get and then they have to get it.

I have no idea why this phenomenon exists, or how people can pay prices like this. I really would like to ask someone who pays this kind of money for a book like this.

I only want people to buy my copies of them :D

Man, then it's as bad as I thought it is. Why don't they just walk in a comic shop first thing in the morning on release day? If one's willing to drop a 100 dollar bill on this comic, why not simply call your boss you'll be late for an hour or so, get in the shop when it opens and buy it for 2.99?
And what baffles me more is that we really have no idea who the character is in the N52. She might be terrible. Remember Bane's debut in the line? Worst. Bane. Poop. Ever.

I think that if you checked, a lot of the buyers for these books don't have an LCS that is easy for them to get too. I know that is the case for the hot books that sell for around $20.00 a pop close shortly after they are released.

Think about it. Would you rather drive an hour, assuming you even have a shop that close, spend $4.00 on a book and then drive an hour back, or would you rather drop $20.00 on a book and not have to do all of that?

The thing that is really confusing to me, is that there is a 2D version of this book that you can get if you really want to READ it. That's what I did with the Lobo book.

I really think the people spending that much cash on a book are thinking they will turn around and sell it for even more money down the line.

Then they will look like this: :!:

So, didn't get a 3D copy, but I did get Georges Jeanty's first ever sketch of Joker's Daughter, so that's cool!

Did he sign it "first sketch"?

Ya know, before he started, he said it was his first, and I did ask if he'd write that down on the sketch, but then when he was done, he handed it to me, and I didn't say anything. Wasn't a Valiant thing anyway :P

Boy, has this book been panned or what? I read reviews everywhere saying it's a piece of crap- not just bad, but Really bad.

Right now, I wish I had payed more attention when this VM was announced. I'd have saved a lot of money for comics that I deem worth reading. Of the- what 13/14?- issues I'll be getting, I'm not actually "seriously" WANTING to read Any of it. :!:

I didn't think Joker's Daughter was horrible, it was alright but it wasn't great but still worth reading.

Bought Secret Society today, I enjoyed it as it was set on Earth 3. Store 1 had the comic on the shelf in a bag with a backboard for 10 dollars, so I walked down to Store 2 and picked it up for cover, with more then 4 copies behind it. That particular book may be severely allocated but not in at least 1 store, I can also get First One, but Jokers Daughter is only available as a regular edition.

I wasn't able to even get a 2D copy at my LCS so I will just have to wait for my DCBS order. That got cut from 2 copies to one copy of the 3D version.

I have heard a TON of people say that the villains month issues have been bad. These are the same people who pretty much say anything put out by Marvel or DC is bad. I also get the feeling that many of them haven't even read the books. Although I haven't read the Joker's daughter yet, so I guess I can't really comment.

of the 10 or so villains month books that I have read, they have all ranked from OK, to pretty good. Nothing has been terrible and nothing has been great.
