What's up with the lack of promotion coming from VEI? I saw one retweet about them being at this show two weeks ago. I'm getting more info from BTE and Aram.

I think they have been so busy that this was something they wanted to do but didn't know if they could *SQUEE*ze in.chriskay99 wrote:What's up with the lack of promotion coming from VEI? I saw one retweet about them being at this show two weeks ago. I'm getting more info from BTE and Aram.

I heard that it was a last minute decision... Which is a good decision considering UNITY #1 is launching very soon.

Updated the original post but here's word from VEI about the show and the panel on Friday night at 6:30:
http://www.valiantentertainment.com/201 ... -comikaze/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I might be there on Sunday if anything. Have to see how the weekend shapes up but at least it's all official now!

So It now looks like I will be at the convention, Friday night, around 3pm to the panel, with my better half, her first convention in years. If I see you there, don't geek her out, please

Actually I think you can take her out early and bring her to the panel with you. Father-daughter field trip! It's work and real world related-ish.Bone-A-Fach-ee wrote:Gonna miss the panelHave to pick up my daughter from pre-school. Or not........?

For sure, we'll be there from 3 to the panel at 6:30 and will look around the show. I am thinking of doing local bigger shows starting next year with my exclusives and other special items.Elveen wrote:Bring her by my booth and come say hi. Mine wants nothing to do with it, even though we've been together since high school. She'd tried reading comics many times, never liked them. Only Strangers in Paradise, and i suspect that was due to Terry and his wife being so nice every time we see them.lorddunlow wrote:What the heck? And some of you have met her, she was the bartender at the Quantum & Woody signing.

Have you tried Jeff Smith's Bone series? Worked for me.paradise wrote:Mine wants nothing to do with it, even though we've been together since high school. My wife has tried really hard to like comics too. She often says it is a REALLY good story, I am sure if it was a book I'd read it, but she just can't get into the comics.

If anyone passes by the Bongo booth, could you tell me what they are selling at the tables?
Or take pics of their setup...like their oversized cardboard art displays that they usually raffle at the end of the show..

Well, that was fun. Mrs. Ed was very popular with Valiant fans, she was quite a local celebrity. Elery will have some photos tomorrow I am sure. We had fun at the panel, everyone got some gold books, including new ones, Eternal Warrior and Shadowman.
The panel was quite fun, lots of jokes about Atom's erotic Faith fiction on Amazon Kindle. A bunch of people got to whisper sweet something into Atom's ear. I tried to make it extra sexy, had to take a mint before doing it, just in case.
The keyword was something that we don't know about but soon will, I won't reveal it here of course, but it's an intriguing set of words for sure.

Wow, EW gold already? Seems like they're blowing through the gold books. Seems like just a few months ago we heard about a Bloodshot 1 gold.paradise wrote:We had fun at the panel, everyone got some gold books, including new ones, Eternal Warrior and Shadowman.
I'll be there for sure on Sunday with my brother, and probably his son. Will be sure to say hi to Sean, Elveen and Jordan for sure.

Re: Stan Lee's Comikaze - Nov. 1-3, 2013 (VEI in attendance
Went to the show on Sunday with my brother and his son. Glad to see they worked out the kinks that made last year such a cluster *SQUEE*. Good to see Elveen and Sean for a few minutes. I always want to chat with them for longer, but I feel like I'm taking away from their time making sales. Both times I swung by, they were pretty busy, which is a great thing. Sorry I disappeared rather quickly, my brother finally spotted where Herb Trimpe was. We rushed over because we had (mis)heard that he was leaving soon.
Anyway, this show still isn't much of a comic book show. It's mostly pop culture stuff. I'm glad they organized the vendors, so all of the toy vendors were in one area, all of the comic book publishers were in one area, etc. Much better than last year. Stopped by the Valiant booth and talked to Dinesh for a minute or two. Passed by their booth another 2 or 3 times over the course of the day and didn't see anyone stopping by there. Also picked up a Shadowman/Harbinger Wars blank and a A&A NYCC exclusive (ssshhh, I didn't tell Dinesh we were in LA).
My brother and I talked to Mike, Ming and Rob Bruce from Comic Book Men, and they were all very nice. We took a photo with them. Didn't really buy much else. Kind of saving my money for the actual comic convention later this same month in Long Beach.
Highlight of the show for me was getting to meet John Romita, Jr. He had a line forming before he showed up, and my brother and I got in line about 20 people back. Took us close to an hour to get up to the front, but JRJR was really gracious with his time. He signed anything and everything that people had, and was doing free head sketches for anyone who asked, which is part of the reason the line moved so slow. I had my Marvel themed sketchbook with me, and I always let the artist choose who they want to draw (male, female, alien, hero, villain, robot) and John chose Daredevil:

I'll only continue to go back to this show in the future if there is an artist I really want to meet, or if Valiant will be there again. It's just not comic book enough for me. My 7 year old nephew had a great time, too. Picked up some books out of the quarter boxes, and he got to meet Ashley Eckstein - the voice of Ahsoka on the Clone Wars cartoon. Anyone else have a wrap up on their experiences at this show?
