It's rad. I forgot to include it in my list. A total oversight on my part.Lightning Strike wrote:I'd heard this was good, but had no idea what it would look like. What's the scoop on it?grendeljd wrote: Afterlife With Archie (I'm not kidding, it's actually good!)

It's genuinely creepy, there is a moody atmosphere to it that is captured well in both the writing & art. I haven't read an Archie comic in many many years, but the characters all felt right, true to their original archetypes but with some added depth - the scenario is treated mildly more adult-oriented, so they aren't as over-simplified as in the standard comics for kids.Lightning Strike wrote:I'd heard this was good, but had no idea what it would look like. I am already a fan of Francavilla's artwork from some other covers I've seen him do (the Doctor Who:Prisoners of Time series), but he rocks the interior sequential work as well. It's still cartoonish, but in a dark, moody, pulpy kind of way. Perfectly creepy looking.
If you're a stickler for your zombie characteristic rules, it may put you off that the zombie plague 'infection' starts with an animal biting a person, but otherwise this is a top notch book made by a couple of passionate creators & it shows (the writer talks about his enthusiasm for the project in the 1st issue letter column).

What we need is innovation and even revolution—but not so much in the form of marketing ploys and doohickeys. What is needed is bold creative vision, excellent stories, and brilliant storytelling, in a word, entertainment. -- Jim Shooter

Re: Your top 10 favorite comics right now?
In no particular order:
Saga
Invincible
Chew
Harbinger
Quantum & Woody
Superior Spider-Man
Flash (And probably not for long looking at the new issue since Manapul/Bucchaletto)
All New X-Men
Wolverine & the X-Men
Daredevil
I'm shocked at the amount of Marvel and lack of DC in my top ten, a HUGE counterpart to a couple of years ago.
