That's a crazy price. I bought a copy from my LCS for $5.99, granted it had 3 1/8th of an inch non color breaking spine dings, but still.
Mycomicshop seems to really have made a lot of adjustments to their way of doing business. I think they've got some sharpies there who have taken over the operation or at least a large part of it.

On their website it's listed as a consignment item. I wonder how much of that asking price is decided by the owner. Plus the book is $12 less if you buy from them directly. Talk about ebay inflation!

On a side note, I'm not a big fan of mycomicshop/Lonestar comics. They have a lot of stock but not a lot of quality. And almost every time I ordered a comic from them that has several volumes (like x-o manowar) I would get the issue I ordered in the wrong volume.

I don't like mycomicshop, but the price is set by the seller not them.

Plus +1. I've had better service (and will choose them over MCS) at Mile High, if you can believe it.

Sold, yes.

But re-listed with the same slab serial number.

Seller's completely legit, but didn't mention anything about multiples; at least not that I saw. Just not kosher to do that in my book, as all 9.8 slabs of the same book do NOT always present the same, if you follow.

Kind of a random observation, but a lot of 1:50s don't go for near this much. Too bad we haven't tracked more prices on VEI 1:50s.

You're right; they don't.

That particular 1:50 was severely under-produced (and/or under allocated), and found few and far between. The ONLY other VEI 1:50's I could compare actual rarity on would be the Shadowman #13 Davis, and maybe the X-O #15 Kotaki. Honestly, a very, very tough pull, and most especially so in anything tighter than NM- condition.

What was that VEI 1:50 issue where one collector came on this board and said he was quitting collecting comics because he couldn't get one?

Actually, now that you mention it, I'm fairly certain it was the E.W. #5 Mack. If not, it was the Shadowman #13 Davis.

I found the thread. It was the Shadowman 13 1:50. The thread was started in buy/sell on Dec. 06, and it was started by one board member looking for the book, and another then posted in that thread about how upset he was he couldn't track one down and was talking about how he was going to quit comics because of it. He was genuinely angry he couldn't find it.

Yep, I found it, too. You'll notice that I was the main one telling that boardie I had hoped to be able to hook him up.

I also still have the PM's from that WTB request. Although I haven't seen him around much lately, I don't believe he quit collecting after that book. If he did, it definitely wasn't because of the SM #13 1:50, since I ended up selling him (and the other boardie) one of my copies 8-) .

Someone got a great price on this Shadowman Black CGC 9.8 SS slab:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Valiant-Shadowm ... 2ed2e43b50" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Is $130.50 plus shipping the lowest that book has sold for?

I was there as well, and for some reason I thought I'd be there at the final moments instead putting in my top bid. Can't remember where on the food chain I was in the end... :(

Last year I was bidding on a Magnus #0 CGC 9.8 SS from my phone at reception in northern Thailand, and in the last 30 seconds I managed to lose connectivity until a few min after the auction ended. Lost by almost nothing, and never saw such an auction again. :(

Oh yeah also got Rai set of the 5 (I can not get enough of the pullbox variants!) for $13.81, and another pullbox plus for a whopping $1.29 plus shipping.
