ah man! so true. i just ran in and found a booth that had old indi books for 25cents each. :o bought about a long box worth of books :D including 80 issues of vh1 i need to complete my set  after that i was pretty drained of any desire to look at more comics so we left.

What a strange show.

This is the first show I've been to that I wouldn't call a "comic convention", and instead call a "pop culture convention".

All the crap that people say about San Diego, that it "isn't about comics" (which is total BS, as anyone who goes can see), actually does seem true about Comikaze.

This was a cosplay/anime/game/geek culture convention, that happened to have some comics.

This isn't a bad thing, and I think there will be more conventions like this, because that's the way this culture is moving, but it was a bit strange to behold.

I very much got that impression last year. Part of the reason I put no effort into trying to go this year.

And they put a lot of effort into making it a "pop culture event" in all the advertising. They made no pretense about what it was.

True. I guess calling it Some Dude's Pop Culture-aze doesn't have the same drawing power to it.
