Cool Bart Sears X-O Manowar art!
Hey guys,
I went to Bart Sears website listed by a fellow board member and found this in his slideshow. I do not recall ever seeing it in either a comic or promotional material so I thought all of you would like to see it.

i loved most of bart's stuff...my only problem with his stuff was that almost everyone looked like they were about to fall over.
also, he got on my nerves because he was never able to stay on schedule. it was always andy smith that was brought in to "ape" bart's style. andy is a great artist, when he's doing andy smith. andy smith is a mediocre bart sears at best.
the amount of detail bart puts into things is incredible, he's always got really good people inking him as well...a bad inker can kill his stuff.
ray kryssing was awesome with bart, randy elliot not so much.
anyway, that is a sweet, sweet piece...thanks for posting it.

I went to Bart's web site and asked him about the art I posted above. He told me it was part of the Birthquake promotion. He also told me that he did some other promo pieces for Birthquake and for a calendar that was never produced. I asked him if he could post them on his site as well. Hopefully he will
I would LOVE to see them too! All I can say is his X-O ROCKS!

it was definately designed to be a cover...check out the big open space at top. what i like about it is that aric doesn't look like he's about to fall on his face.
bart has undeniable talent...his compostion sometimes bothers me. the path for crossgen was almost impossible for me to read.

Hey everybody,
The art posted here was for promotion.. It was colored by my coloring studio, but I can't remember if it was ever printed or not.. might have been a giveaway at a convention.. I can't really remember.
Cinlach, At Acclaim. when they hired me for X-O, they wanted to print the book twice-monthly, and I would alternate with another artist. I suggested Andy Smith, because or styles were, at that time, very similar, and I felt it would be less jaring on fans to have the look of the book be somewhat more consistent, even though two different artists were drawing it bi-weekly(ish).
Acclaim evidently agreed.
He wasn't brought in because I couldn't make deadlines. I never missed a deadline for Acclaim.
They eventually took me off of the book to do a complete revamp, afdter birthquake tanked. I did a proposal, which they approved and loved, then they sat me with nothing to draw for months, until they thru that crap Killler Instict at me.
Then I quit. That was most of the acclaim story.. Any other questions, please ask over at Ominouswords.
Thanks,
Bart

Bart,
Thank you SO MUCH for posting over here! You are DA MAN when it comes to X-O Manowar in my book and I appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to stop by for a visit.
I will continue to post over on your site, but PLEASE post here once in a while too. There are a lot of big fans of yours here and we would all love to hear more about your Valiant / Acclaim days and your current projects.
Thanks again!

Just goes to show you how many different perspectives there are to comic art. For my money, you can't beat a crisp clean pencil drawing. It just seems a little bit more pure and simple. (100% un fooled around with,... as Sutherland would sayKnightt_333 wrote:Whom ever inked this piece did a GREAT job. For me it is all about the inkers !!!! They give pencils life and depth.

When I was five, I dragged my dad into "Mike's Comic Hut"... If only I'd known..

Bart,
If you happen to come back to check this I wanted to say thank you for those Wizard articles you used to write. Me and a close friend of mine felt like it was actually possible to learn to draw. We both worked on it and I went out and bought some of the Burne Hogarth books you recommended. I can't tell you how much we improved over time, egging each other on, and how devastated we were when you stopped writing the article.
Even though I haven't picked up a pencil in years, you will always hold a special place in my heart. I know shows are sparse in Houston, but I hope to get an autograph from you next time you appear at a local con.
Thanks for you inspiration and influence!

Ouch, I forgot that job! My hands are still numb from inking
Hello guys and thank you all so very much for the kind words on my inking skills!! I forgot about that page but loved inking it!!
It was 2 pages plus and chock full of Bart detail.
I thought all of the twin timeline shots were the best shots and I'm thankfull that I got a full half share of all the work that I did with Bart!
I'm going to be posting more Valiant art both released and thought lost soon @ www.inkspotcomicart.com ...Best wishes-Ray Kryssing
