True Origins Of Valiant's Heroes?

Post by omega_override »

Something I've been wondering for some time now is what Valiant's characters are based on/inspired by. Obviously the majority of them are lifted from Jim Shooter's time at Marvel. Here's what I've been able to come with so far

Bloodshot- Universal Soldier mixed with The Punisher (I've also considered DC's Deathstroke The Terminator as a possible influence)
X-O Manowar- Conan mixed with Iron Man (I've also considered DC's The Warlord as a possible influence)
Eternal Warrior- Highlander
Harbinger- New Mutants
Shadow Man- Hulk's Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde elements mixed with Doctor Strange (I've also considered DC's Hellblazer as a possible influence)

For Bloodshot, he is really a lot like Wolverine with the healing factor and the Weapon X type of origin.

For X-O, I have always seen him as an amalgam of the Avengers Big 3. Thor for the time period where he came from, Iron Man for the armor and his being a CEO of a corporation in VH1, and Cap for the man out of time element.

Ninjak is Batman.

X-O Manowar as an amalgam of Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America is spot on. :thumb:

Harbinger- New Mutants
Harbinger is based almost entirely on Psi-Force (the Renegeades) and DP7 (Harbinger Foundation.) What the inspiration for those titles were, I really can't say.
I wonder what it would be like to be a lonely, muck-encrusted monster? Probably be an improvement.

I'm aware, but Deathstroke and Univeral Soldier have those elements too. Plus Universal Soldier makes sense as an influence because it was in theaters a full year pror to Bloodshot's inception

Was Archer and Armstrong inspired by Brothers of the Spear(Gold Key)?
