Clayton Crain Rai Commission

Post by turbod16 »

I was very lucky to be able to commission a piece from Clayton before his appearance in Toronto a couple weeks ago. I was able to propose a few ideas and let him choose the one he liked best.
Needless to say Mr. Crain did not disappointed !

I also have to add that Clayton is an all around , down to earth GREAT guy. If you are able to meet him at any future engagements , I highly recommend it.

I rarely curse... but the moment I saw that, I said the "s" word... out loud. Out of envy. :D

I will be sure to forward the enthusiastic response to Mr.Crain because I know he really liked how it turned out too.
I'm definitely still smiling :D

Speaking with Clayton and being able to watch him paint were pretty darn cool too. He said that he is really enjoying his time with Valiant Comics and his stint on Rai. He was also really excited about the upcoming 3rd arc and gave me a sneak peak at the cover of issue 9.
Another cool thing he did mention was that is considering doing some original painted artwork for the Rai series ..... I believe maybe some covers and splash pages. Clayton was saying that he feels bad when fans ask if he has any artwork available for purchase and can't offer anything because it is digital. :hope: for the Clayton Crain fans out there.

Did he mention at all how long he plans to stay on the book?
Alone, listless, breakfast table in an otherwise empty room.

No specifics. I know the third arc and I'm assuming all 4 issues BUT he did say that he would like to do a really long run. So I really really really hope VEI keep him involved all the way down to a movie if they do one.

He said it took him about 4 hours. Not sure if that included the hour he painted in front of me too.
