Dinesh says there's no monthly limit for titles. They're concerned with quality first

One cool item tweeted out by someone in attendance was that Roku is a mythological being...interesting.

It was mentioned that Roku is short for something else (I forget what exactly), and the full name is that of a Japanese mythological monster.BugsySig wrote:One cool item tweeted out by someone in attendance was that Roku is a mythological being...interesting.

By the way, issue 4 focuses on Roku and has a cover that I personally think is going to be sought by collectors down the line, if Roku sticks around.kjjohanson wrote:It was mentioned that Roku is short for something else (I forget what exactly), and the full name is that of a Japanese mythological monster.BugsySig wrote:One cool item tweeted out by someone in attendance was that Roku is a mythological being...interesting.

Yeah I think that's what they said for Roku. I thought they were saying roku-obi like Archers name at first.

Re: Kjjohanson's NY Special Edition Report
The image posted over in the "Is this a future Unity Team?? Speculate away" thread is an image of the final confrontation in Book of Death. We weren't told who they were confronting, but Dinesh hinted that we might have an idea if we checked out the original art at Cary Nord's table. (More on that later.) Apparently there are a few new characters in the image, which we will be seeing again, but when that might be will depend on where it fits into storylines down the line. So, first appearances.
Some images from the panel:

Yep, that's Bloodshot with a beard in the last panel. Basically what we were told about the "Death of" issues is that we'd be seeing little vignettes, but not necessarily all the details of the story leading up to the end. Obviously they can't give everything away now.
More Bloodshot:

Legends of the Geomancer:

Notice the word bubble in first panel on the second page. Consider as well that Van Lente is writing this, and he and Pak are friends and sometime writing-partners. I imagine some of Pak's ideas are going to come into play here.

Raul Allen is doing full interiors for an issue in the Squirtverse. Looks interesting:

In the third Bloodshot arc, Lewis Larosa is doing the interior art. They teased a few spreads (sorry, didn't take a pic of those), and they look amazing.

Re: Kjjohanson's NY Special Edition Report
After the panel, I went back to Nord's table to take another look through his art, and to purchase a page that I had been eyeing. I did find the cover art that Dinesh was referring to, apparently for the last issue of Book of Death, featuring a defeated Eternal Warrior… and Master Darque. Not sure whether he's the final Big Bad, but it certainly seems to be a possibility. No sign of Shadowman indicated.
By the way, this is the page I picked up from Nord:

And another from Clay Mann:

There were a couple of lurkers all weekend around the Valiant booth. I found this guy:

And this one, in the shadows:

Some other goodies; a couple of posters for the 25th anniversary (there's another row of trades at the bottom:

And this double-sides one for Book of Death:

Great pick ups from Nord and Mann
Outstanding pages
So Master Darque...makes sense for him to be eying the Book and Death...maybe we'll get a tease of something Shadowman leading to more down the line
He is featured prominently in the 25th anniversary logo...

Re: Kjjohanson's NY Special Edition Report
One of the questions posed at the Q&A at the panel was from someone who claimed that he's showed up in costume at several different cons, asking when we're going to see a Goat ongoing. Warren's response was when he shows up as the goat, he'll get a one-shot, but that's the best he can promise. The questioner's response: "I'll see you at New York Comic Con."

Dude you did an outstanding job on the play by play on the con thanks so much. If you don't mind me asking how much $$$ (ballpark ) were the Cary Nord original art, he's coming to Heroes Con in Charlotte and ill like to pick some up.

Very curious how much Clay Mann charges for his pages. I REALLY want to get a commission by him. He is at the tops of my list of must gets.

Thanks for giving a day two update. I'm glad they brought more to give out the second day... just wish I hadn't missed out on some of that stuff.

Yeah, son's graduation weekend with lots of family. We had a great time. I guess I'll catch up with you at NYCC. Looks like you had a great time, too.kjjohanson wrote:You're not coming today? That sucks. I didn't work the booth. I didn't see any call this year for Valianteers, so maybe they have it covered?

Didn't we see something like that (the long neck) with Ninjak in The Valiant? Or was it Divinity?kjjohanson wrote:It was mentioned that Roku is short for something else (I forget what exactly), and the full name is that of a Japanese mythological monster.BugsySig wrote:One cool item tweeted out by someone in attendance was that Roku is a mythological being...interesting.

Re: Kjjohanson's NY Special Edition Report
The Cary Nord page was $250. I think the pages from that particular issue ranged from about $150 (pages with no significant characters) to over $400 (X-O fighting the other Visigoth in the ED-209-type thing). He also had pages from the Planet Death arc which were cheaper (inks, no colors).p-s manowar wrote:Dude you did an outstanding job on the play by play on the con thanks so much. Re: Kjjohanson's NY Special Edition Report
That particular page was $150, but that seemed cheap to me (considering it features the title characters and the primary antagonist in action) compared to the prices I had asked about for other pages, which went up to about $250 or so. He had a few covers as well (one for Ninjak #1, and another for Book of Death) that were far more expensive than I expected.Jace wrote:Very curious how much Clay Mann charges for his pages. Re: Kjjohanson's NY Special Edition Report
Definitely reasonable. He puts so much detail, nice to hear he has good prices. I didn't hear much DC news from the show as compared to Marvel. I am curious, so soon coming after their move to Burbank, did DC have a booth there?kjjohanson wrote:That particular page was $150, but that seemed cheap to me (considering it features the title characters and the primary antagonist in action) compared to the prices I had asked about for other pages, which went up to about $250 or so.
