To be fair all we know at the current is they are utilizing a gimmick tied to nostalgia.leonmallett wrote:slym2none wrote:Great - more gimmicks and a high cover price.
Welcome back, 1995.

Kind of underwhelmed at the news. Gimmicks over content?
The content is yet to be determined.
With VEI's track record I think it's likely Great Content accompanying Nostalgic Gimmick.

I doubt casual readers are even thinking about it at this point. And I imagine that a lot more will be known when the casual reader has to make the decision whether to grab the pricier book off of the shelf.Shadowman99 wrote:See it like this: the ambiguous wording regarding the 'extra pages' has already got some people steaming and confused on this board, and this is where the most dedicated fans are found. If Valiant are upsetting their most dedicated fans, who can say how casual Valiant readers and comic shop owners feel about the idea? Chances are they're not going to be as forgiving as people here on the board. The point is, as Valiant continues to attempt expansion of its readership, they don't want to be making mistakes like this at this point in time.[/color]
If you're not a *SQUEE*, you're okay with me.

Yeah, wouldn't be surprised if that's true in some cases. Some casual readers will definitely form opinions on it sooner or later though, so like you say; we'll have to wait and see.kjjohanson wrote:I doubt casual readers are even thinking about it at this point. Re: Valiant brings back chromium covers for Armor Hunters
My point is still that they have pushed news around so many gimmicks lately (first issues seemingly disrupting ongoing titles; variants including Unity variant overload; chromium; poly-bag; etc.). It has vague echoes of the news focus being on other media licensing a few years back.Captain Craig wrote:To be fair all we know at the current is they are utilizing a gimmick tied to nostalgia.leonmallett wrote:slym2none wrote:Great - more gimmicks and a high cover price.

I am not saying there cannot or will not be good content - there can. What I am saying is that there has been an emphasis on gimmicks so much, that I feel they are not pushing (in news, announcements) content as much.
VEI - I look forward to you one day publishing MORE than 9-10 books per month
