In the majority of cases, a crappy restaurant puts out crappy food. There isn’t much to complain about when people can’t help the quality control. Easier to just never return instead of hoping for a change and focus the money on the places that earned goodwill with consistent quality. Having done a stint as a waiter for 2 years, the waiter is just going to ask the dude high out of his mind to make another, likely same waydaniellew61 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 5:18:46 pmYou wouldn't ask a waitress to get you a different order if you got something, and it sucked? Why????The Harbinger wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 4:32:30 pm Well Antos is initiating those like she did with Tom King for Jae’s blacklisting, so not really a feed the trolls.
And how often were you told by retailers why they weren’t ordering Valiant any longer? I feel like that would happen as often as when i tell a waitress the food sucked, which is rarely.
How often? Depends how many we reached out to, and why we were. That was the whole point of having sales team, so people were free for constant outreach
Retailers want good comics because that's what keeps them in business. Valiant had a sales staff dedicated to asking retailers about the pros and cons of what they were seeing, getting, and requesting. Retailers were super honest, sometimes brutally so. I could call them and see when their orders were decreasing. They want publishers to provide good products, so they get very honest about what they want. I didn't take it personally because my job wasn't to make the books—it was to report the feedback we collected as the sales team. But it did weigh heavy when I'd hear a lot of the same thing repeated but had no ability to help it change. With retailers, it wouldn't be in their best interest to hold back about what they wanted from Valiant. We heard plenty of different opinions, surveyed specific questions when we had ideas, and reported everything up the chain. Rinse and repeat.

VIP aside, it was a messed up situation. Antos and Tom King tried to end his career, and in Tom King’s case, tried to save face after. Antos quietly deleted her tweets, but King gets an atom of respect for at least admitting he was trying to cancel him.

It’s valid to be super disappointed when people are reacting so passionately before having all the information. about whatever the hell is going on. It’s super dangerous when it can feel personal to several people…. We have seen that more and more. The Harbinger wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 9:08:59 pmVIP aside, it was a messed up situation. So yeah, who knows anything, really? Not even me, just what I kinda remember, from my POV this was how seemed working there. It was super different during Covid so I only knew what I knew. Or there’s a microchip implanted in me

I actually logged in today to say goodbye to you guys! I have left Alien Books for another opportunity. I will still visit.
It will be nice to be back on the fan side of Valiant!

Appreciate you coming on here and giving the inside perspective. Let's all hope Valiant takes off again soon and we can keep discussing it for many years to come.daniellew61 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 9:38:23 pm Anyway, this is as good a place as any to say!

What Danielle says about editors and publishers reminds me of when Didio wanted to reboot DC right after Infinite Crisis but Levitz, the publisher, said no.
It wasn't until after Levitz left that Didio got to do what became the New 52.
Time proved Levitz right...

Odds are it'll be Resurgence, either as it comes out or when they collect it.The Harbinger wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 8:50:32 amMOTA let us know what you end up with so you can reviewdaniellew61 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 10:03:11 pm PS I bought ManoftheAtom a gift card so he can read some of the releases. I wasn't impressed with Fred Van Lente continuation of Jennifer Blood some of it was the poor artwork and it being a Dynamite Comic but the story was lackluster and dull.
I've never heard of AJ Ampadu.

Just get each issue as it comes out so you can talk about it online. Also, Alien hasn't been in the habit of publishing trades of current stuff.ManofTheAtom wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 8:59:34 am Odds are it'll be Resurgence, either as it comes out or when they collect it.
