At this point, VIP is using the threats made here to try to sway public opinion. It makes sense to not post threats in light of this. Feelings and thoughts are not threats MotA, there's a difference.

For instance:
The things you post don't make sense, MotA (opinion/thought/feeling), and if you post again I am going to fly down to Mexico and punch you in "los huevos" (threat).*

*The above does not represent my true thoughts or feelings or threats.

**If you don't laugh at this I'll punch you.

You spelled it right, now say it :)

The fact is this, I didn't make a threat, I posted a humorous quote from a movie about fanboys attacking a movie studio

It's called HUMOR

MAKING LIGHT OF THE SITUATION

HAVING FUN AT ONE'S SELF

In today's paranoid/PC America you have forgotten how to do that

If this went to "Member's Only" would that cover us any more legally as far as people trying to use that against us? :?

I learned me some spanish by taking classes in college.

And from working with dudes from Mexico, though all I learned from them was how to talk about the various body parts of women.

If this goes to the member's only area it means we're cowards and as scared as VIP.

You know in a way, VIP not having their own website is going to kill them. Let's say someone picked up the ashcan and was interested enough to look up Valiant on the web. Naturally they're going to come here, and what they'll find sure isn't going to convince them to support VIP.

Oh, btw....I was talking about this subject to my LCS owner today and he (being an old Valiant fan) told me there was no way he'd stock the VIP titles.

cool.

Excellent idea. In fact, perhaps all current threads pertaining to vip should be moved to that area. It may seem like we are caving but since lawyers are obviously reading our posts, our words can be "misinterpreted" at their leisure.

I was going to talk to my LCS owner tomorrow and respectfully ask that he not carry the product. Shouldn't be a problem sice I had to beg him to get the HC in, and then he only got three (two of which are mine).

Hey, I wasn't gonna harm the goat, I just figured if Lovitz needed at date to the VIP coming-out bash, then I'd make it easy for him.

There is nothing to stock, no solicitations for anything to stock, no ideas to create anything to stock, all there is is a photocopied book of drawings.

Wow, now you're saying that Lovitz is too lame to get a date.

When will you stop?

I think we all know just how little thought VIP has applied to any "new" ideas.
schi0249 wrote:Neither company is Marvel or DC. They both have much to loose. And by dragging this on, they are putting a sour taste in the mouth of many fans. Treating the ashcan as a sketch, it LOOKS like they may have some interesting ideas. But these days, could ideas mean squat. There have been plenty of comics that were good ideas, but fans didn't support them. This isn't the 90's where everybody and their brother bought comics. Comics are a much more niche market today and rely on the support of fans. Unless of course you are Marvel or DC and can just coast by on 2-3 massive franchises.
You are joking, right? As has been pointed out by several, Valiant succeeded in the 90's because they were different than everybody else (DC, Marvel, and later Image). Many of the people I saw buying preunity Valiant back in the day, were buying very little being published by anyone else. This began to change when Valiant became the it company and everybody was buying them.

As far as new ideas go, it is apparent that whoever drew those pictures for the vip trashcan has decided that harbingers are now mutants with wings. :hm:.......where have we seen that before?
See, I was one of those that got into Valiant because they were the IT company. Same reason I initially got into Image. The difference was, Image had little content to back up the claim. Valiant had great characters and stories.

I am an old school video gamer. i grew up on the 2600, NES, and Sega MS. I am a huge Wii fan today. Why? They are not the most attractive games out there. However, looks aren't everything. If I wanted flashy graphics I'd own a PS3. Same thing attracted me to Valiant. Very good art, great stories, a sense of continuity, and "realism." I haven't read much for new comics because most don't have all 4 of those.

As I said on other posts, I hope VEI ends up with the trademarks. If they don't I am confident that Valiant can still return. We are all bashing the ashcan. No, the art is not good. But how can we judge what, IF ANYTHING, they have planned from some characters sketches.

I meant for furture reference, not right now. We had a long talk (not about this particular subject) the other day about DUs and what went wrong with those companies. All I am saying is that I just want him to know what is going on and hope that he will understand the situation...... Now that you mention it I have nothing to say to him on the subject, really. You're right.
