That's the point, though. No one did claim it.ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:Keeping in mind that ANYONE can get their hands on DF hologram stickers, and apply them, at any time, to the back of any bag.greg wrote:The ones with the DF logo on the back were closely related to Graham Crackers Comics, betterthanezra wrote:No they were not with DF logo's on the back at SDCC last year I found them at a single dealers table who got them directly from VIP's Lawyer.cinlach@aol.com wrote:numerous VIP "tr"ashcans sold in san diego late last year came in bags bearing the freakin' dynamic forces hologram for pete's sake.Geomancer wrote:Will we ever get the official scoop on who VIP was/were?
he got 10 of them....sold them for $40 dollars each from what I understand he sold 8 of them at the show NO other dealers had this ashcan. They showed up at www.comiccentral.com after the show for $50 dollars each. The URL is the same dealer that had them at SDCC.
Ones that had the DF logo on the back side of the bag showed up at Wizard in Chicago I think...anyone?

who is rumored to have had the books printed on behalf of VIP in the first place.
*I* have a couple handfuls of unused DF stickers.
I could bag up Harby HC, stick one of the DF stickers on the back, and claim it came directly from them....
Would somebody buy that story...?
You know, I kinda have the feeling somebody would.
But I digress.
The books just arrived with DF stickers...
Graham Crackers and DF are big buddies,
and DF has denied connection to VIP.
Why would Graham implicate his pal
(unless some clueless intern was
dropping those packages in the mail)?
You don't do that to your friend.

It's well known that www.comiccentral.com is VERY close to Graham Crackers in many ways. I'm friends with the original owner of the Comiccentral URL and talked to him about this VERY subject.

Re: Will we ever get the official scoop on who VIP was/were?
i readily admit it's EXTREMELY circumstantial...no doubt, and yes...those DF bags with stickers are easy enough to obtain.ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:Keeping in mind that ANYONE can get their hands on DF hologram stickers, and apply them, at any time, to the back of any bag.

and i apologize for the error on where they were available, i honestly thought some from san diego had shown up in DF bags...so my bad there.

again, all the evidence pointing to DF as being VIP is not conclusive, it is circumstantial...but you can be convicted by circumstantial evidence if there's enough of it.
i'm not saying things are conclusive enough to point at DF beyond a shadow of a doubt, but in my mind it's certainly enough to convince me within a reasonable doubt.
i do believe the 2 are related, much more then they would like us to know.
if at some point my theory is proven wrong, i'll gladly recant my position.
but as it stands now it's going to take a whole lot more then the head of DF saying, "we're not VIP, honest..." to convince me.

I agree wholeheartedly with MoTA and it just feels wrong.ManofTheAtom wrote:VIP is a company owned and represented by cowards, so in all likelihood their identity will remain a mystery.Geomancer wrote:I'm very curious as to whether we will be getting more details as to who VIP was. I mean officially and for the record.
I'd rather discuss new upcoming valiant material of course, but for historical reasons I'd be interested in full disclosure.

Legally, no one will ever confirm ID, I suspect.
1) What VIP did was, at least on the surface, legal. Craven and icky, sure, but legal
2) A legal resolution was reached. I'm certain that confidentiality was one of the terms of that resolution
So any "confirmation" that might or might not happen will surely be attributed to anonymous "industry insiders" and/or FOAF.
The good guys won. Let's all move on, shall we?

Is closure needed? The dispute is resolved, apparently for the best, and in favour of the (apparently) most deserving party. Will not knowing who VIP were affect enjoyment of VEI product? I doubt it. Yeah, I am curious to know, and the circumstantial evidence remains pretty formidable, but it is just that - circumstantial. Surely closure is over-egging it - the situation is resolved so let us enjoy what goodies VEI can bring us.Geomancer wrote:I've sent an email to that address, too.
I think an answer would provide a bit of closure and help in the process of moving forward.
In any case, that Valiant is moving forward [finally] is the crucial thing.
