Pardon the crappy pics, I was in the spare bedroom at 2 AM this morning (last night) doing this - the second pic is to show my 9.6 set I included in the count, plus the eBay item I just received today that didn't make it in the group last night ( if anyone cares ) and here's a breakdown of the counts:
Harbinger #1 x2, #2 x2
Magnus #2 x2, #4 x2, #5 x6, #6 x2, #8 x2
Solar #1 x3, #2 x3, #3 x2, #4 x2, #5 x2
Rai #0 x7, #1 x8, #2 x6, #3 x12, #4 x9, #5 x10 (some Unity multiples too, didn't count them)
X-O Manowar #1 x3, #15 Pink x2
Nothing to brag about, but not too shabby when you consider that when I first joined here, I was broke, jobless, and sold everything I had except my one Rai #3 and one X-O #1 to (former?) user here Manowar Class.

Are you effing kidding me? That dude always has recockulous prices and then he lists a perfectly centered Rai 3 for $25?!? WTF? I'd pay that all day on a centered copy. Congrats, slym!slym2none wrote: plus the eBay item I just received today that didn't make it in the group last night ( if anyone cares ) and here's a breakdown of the counts:

Ah HA!!!Rai-fan wrote:Yeah, Zeph. That was me. I didn't want to pop the Buy-It-Now either & then the bidding went over it. Sorry I didn't sell any to you afterwards but I _love_ that series.Oh, so YOU were the one who beat me on that Batman #428 20 copies auction last year...
Seriously, I had a chance to BIN 20 VF ish copies of Bats #428 at $36+$6
Stupid me.
The initial bid was $22. I gambled, killed the BIN...then LOST the damn books at $42+!!!!
ARGH!!!!
I KNEW it!
(Actually, I was just kidding....I totally had no idea, and was just having fun. It is a VERY coincidental thing that you actually won them and then REMEMBERED me asking you if you wanted to sell any. VERY freaky coincidence! We're just SWIMMING in them this week!)
I'm surprised you remembered that I asked if you wanted to sell any! Weren't you really snarky with me.....?
Oh, and now you know the whole story. My own greed got the best of me.

Seriously, I was hitting myself for WEEKS on that one.
And how did they show up? Decent? Beat?
As for loving that series...that series was THE #1 HOTTEST set of books to own when I first got into comics.
Let's put it this way....no other comic, in the history of comics, has EVER...NEVER....experienced the percentage gains in as short a time as Batman #428 did.
NONE.
When I ever get them all together, I'll show you my hoard of Death In The Family....it's pretty damn shocking (think short box).

I know - his #2' and #4 are outrageously priced. I have to thank another board member here for pointing me to this.400yrs wrote:Are you effing kidding me? Actually, there is a small story behind this auction - I snagged it as soon as Rubik told me about it, paid right away, and the guy e-mails me and tell me it will be about a week in shipping. Okay, whatever, I think. 10 days go by, so I fire off an e-mail. He replies on Tuesday, "sorry, back spasms, I got it out today via Prioroty Mail, you should have it on Thursday." Sure enough, it's in my mailbox on Thursday - IN MY MAILBOX, in a PM envelope crammed in there.400yrs wrote:Are you effing kidding me? I need many key issues still. I will be hunting some of you down systematically.
Personally I'm hoarding Turok #1. You may think this silly but once I reach my goal of around 899,000 and burn all of them but 10 I'll have a big board sale and make tons of money.

Ditto. Nostalgia's an evil thing. As mentioned elsewhere, my only CGCs are 9.8s of 426 & 429; 428's gonna' suck--last I checked it had less than 6 in that grade. And how did they show up? Decent? Beat?
As for loving that series...that series was THE #1 HOTTEST set of books to own when I first got into comics.
The 20 copies were basically 9.0-9.2 copies with a couple 9.4s thrown in.
My first trip to the store as a collector, I picked up a What If # 7 (Wolverine as Shield Agent/Liefeld cover) off the shelf & gazed longingly at the Death in the Family set on the wall: $45, $35, $35, $12.
Speaking of kicking oneself, I talked with Jim Starlin for 15 minutes or so a few weeks back & was so excited about his work on Warlock, I forgot to ask him if the alternate 429 actually exists (which I think was mentioned in the forward to the trade-paperback). Would kill to read even the script to that onel.
BTW, got the X-men 112 & 118 the other day. Beautiful!

I usually just keep one of each and sell or trade the rest. I've sold my share of pre-unity books,
but over the last couple years I've been hoarding what I can find at reasonable prices.
Here's my lucky lot of 13 Solar #1s including the VcVSS and another one I had signed by
Perlin, Shooter and JayJay.

As most of you know, there are a few different books that I have stockpiled.
It's hard to brag when I know that some people don't even have one copy of some Valiant issues,
but I doubt I could do much to help everyone who needs to complete their collections (I don't have that many),
and it would be pretty biased of me just to try to help a few guys and leave everyone else out.
So, I guess it's in all our best interests for me to just keep 'em.
But if anyone's wondering, the book I have the MOST copies of is... Eternal Warrior #5
Second place goes to HARDCorps #1
I believe that third place goes to Magnus 5,
and fourth is probably close between Solar #1, Rai #1, and Turok #1.
