So Zeph you say that the mis-embossed magnus or XO book could be graded by CGC with no ill effects because of the horrible look of the book because said defects came from the printer and are not subsequent wear which is what CGC grades on? :thumb:
I'd have to see in hand the X-O before making that call.

As for the Magnus, dunno. I'm not a CGC grader. But, by Overstreet guidelines...NOPE.

Wear, darling, wear. How can you have a GRADE based on WEAR if it's also based on something BESIDES wear.....?

You think the upside down Jenny plane on the 3 cent stamp isn't a 'horrible look'? And yet...wonder of wonders...graders don't count it off as 'wear'...printing flaw? HELL yes. Wear? Duh. Not even.

If you would like, my dear, to call it SOMETHING ELSE...by all means, have at it. :) Grade: 10. Eye appeal: 4.5. See?

The book is graded as if the defects aren't there, but then they use a green label and describe the defect.
Toldja.

By the by, Jedi, I have a Catwoman #..something, I forget, maybe #50....that has only the second half of the book...two second halves. :)

Alright, never posted images before, so I hope this works...

Here is something unusual I have (I think). This was given to me at the San Diego Comic-Con in 1993 (I think) by someone at the Valiant booth.

I think it's a test printing of the Ninjak promo card. It's 8x10" and looks kind of crappy because it's still in the bag when I scanned it. It's signed by Jimmy P and Joe Q and I have a certificate of authenticity for it from Legends and Lore Inc.

I am also including the numbers that are printed on the back. Anyone ever seen anything like this?

Also, I can't find a listing for the regular Ninjak promo card. Is that something that is pretty common or is it harder to find? Looks just like the image above, but it's trading card size.

I'm holding one just like it in my hand right now, only mine is not signed. I think your right, It's some kind of special promo card to introduce Ninjak and show off the special cover. I got mine when I bought a Ninjak #1 Gold from a LCS last summer. It was in with the comic in it's plastic Valiant stamped sleeve. The back of the card describes Colin King a little and says," Here is an advanced look at Ninjak by Joe Quesada and Jimmy Palmiotti with the chromium look courtesy of Signs and Glassworks. Look for Ninjak #1 coming in November from Valiant". Sonicdan would probably be able to answer more about it.

I've got one too but again no signatures. They are no very common but do come up from time to time - I got mine on ebay. The promo card is more common though.

Here's a pic of the promo card(s), the oversize card and the on sale here window chrome.
All three shouldn't give ya too much trouble to track down.

I'd say elyhekrue's signed oversize (with COA) chrome is unique in that I don't think it's been posted or mentioned before.

Wait, are you guys saying that the back of your 8x10 has text on it to promote Ninjak, or is it blank like mine with just some funny numbers at the bottom? The small promo (like in Sonicdan's image) have the text on the back promoting Ninjak like you describe, but not the big one).

Just trying to figure all this out as I'm just getting back in to Valiant collecting.

While looking through my stuff I came across my promo. The back has the same numbers as yours and nothing else on a very glossy white. Like the others mentioned here, it's not signed.

The smaller card is the one with the advertising for Ninjak on the back.

Another fun one. This time it's not one that I have questions about, just a fun, signed book. Got this at Comic-Con when I got the other signed stuff. Still have a bunch of other signed books, let me know if you want to see scans of them.

Here's a wacky misprint I picked up last week.

Image

Kinda ugly, I know... but that's the reason it should have been trashed
somewhere along the assembly, packaging, distribution line.
Pre-Unity problem? I'll take it. :D
