Mass Sale of Valiant Comics

Post by thomas55610 »

Hello,

I have not collected comics for, say, about ten years. I am in a bit of a cash fix right now (well, not really, but I could use the extra cash for a home purchase- every little bit helps), and have lots of Valiant Comics lying around that I would like to get rid of for some money. I was a very big fan for quite awhile and have something like 300 Valiant Comics lying around.

Now, I have glanced through the pricing information on this site, but rather than offer the comics up one by one, I would be willing to exchange the whole stack for say, $200 plus shipping expenses. If you were to live around the Long Island, NYC, area, I could even meet you or deliver them to your house.

Now, I don't believe I have anything too rare; but I do have a lot of early comics; Magnus #12 (ha, I think I pay $70 for it in its heyday), for one, a couple of gold issues (don't remember which exactly, but I would be willing to go and look if there is an interest, and a lot of early issues (I am pretty complete with the Shadowmans, some early Solars, Eternal Warrior, etc.

I want to avoid making a big list of these comics, but from what I gather, the going value would exceed the amount I am asking. I would be able to provide a partial detail of the comics (or at least the large ones (gold, number ones), if thre is an interest), but I don't want to sell them piecemeal; the value of each individual one is not worth the effort.

I collected basically all the lines, but never made it to the Acclaim stage, or even the late Valiant era.

Please let me know if there is any interest and I could sort through them and provide more details. My e-mail address is thomas55610@yahoo.com

I am very honest and easy to deal with. Thank you and sorry about how vague this message is.

Yeah, making a list of what you think is valuable is the best bet for getting any kind of a response. Most people here have commons coming out of their ears, so there would have to be quite a bit of pre unity book/gold books in that collection to make it worth anyone’s time. And since you want to sell the whole enchilada at once you have to figure in the high shipping cost for those three hundred books.

+1

If you're serious about getting any type of $, get that list made and post it! Its really not that difficult or time consuming considering that there aren't THAT many titles and you can list many consecutive issues quickly IE "Magnus 12-35, 37, 40".

Selling in bulk at his price is probably decent, especially if you or someone you know is looking to boost their collection of Valiants, or possibly you know someone who has been wanting to dabble into the Valiant universe without dumping any significant money into it. Great way to start. Could always sell off some of the golds or such to make back some money.

On a seperate note, in a few weeks (I hope), I'm going to throw up a list here of books that I'm going to part with for a buck a piece shipped. Though I'll have a minimum of like 10 books to purchase, I should have decent runs on most titles. Just need some time to sort through what I have with titles and quantities.

If the collection contains 10 or so pre-Unity and/or incentive books, and the rest are post-Unity commons...then 66¢ PER BOOK BEFORE SHIPPING is a HORRID, HORRID, HORRID price for these books.

Nearly every book from 1993, and most books from 1994, are worth about 25 cents each, retail, and as little as 2-3 cents wholesale...IN NEAR MINT. Please note, he/she makes no mention of the conditions of the books.

Also note the "big book" he mentions: Magnus #12, easily had for $5 on eBay. Now, this isn't ALWAYS the case, but it's mostly true: people will generally mention in a lot the thing which they believe has the most value. Note the lack of, say, Harbinger #1, or Rai #3, 4, etc.

Please also note that he mentions "early Solars (easy to get), complete Shadowman (the easiest Pre-Unity series to get) and EW." Those are your clues that this lot isn't really all that pre-Unity heavy.

Keep that in mind. Also keep in mind that most folks would have tried to shop these books around locally before coming to sell here. And, of course, the offers he would have gotten would have been in the $5-$25 range. I don't like people getting screwed with tons of crap that they could have paid 1/4 of or less of the "asking" price for.

And Thomas....if you are serious about selling these, you're going to have to list "the best" books. You can't just announce a totally random lot of books, and a huge price for them, and expect the offer to be taken seriously.

Going value, even on Greg's price guide, isn't really reflected here. The PG has A LOT of commons that are not going to be listed at below cover price, while in reality, they can be had for a quarter or 50 cents apiece.
Please let me know if there is any interest and I could sort through them and provide more details. My e-mail address is thomas55610@yahoo.com
Has anyone e-mailed him for more details? He might not ever check back here...

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.
